Is it possible to sit for the exam before fulfilling the requirements? I recently graduated with only basic accounting knowledge and i was accepted into a masters pogram but i am considering delaying to study for the exam (i could also save 10k by establishing residency). Is it possible to study and take the exam with only a small amount of accounting exp? I am just looking at my options….

I guess it depends on the state. I'm registered under NY, I still need to fulfill more credit hours, but NY will let you sit for the exams still. I will just need to complete the rest of the credits before I can actually be licensed. The Nasba site should let you know.

Do you mean education requirements? I believe you need to fulfill the education requirements to get approved by the Board to sit for the exam… My understanding is that you need at least a bachelor's degree, 24 semester units of accounting, and 24 semester units of business-related subjects. I might be wrong so you may want to call the CA Board directly to get a more accurate answer.

This handbook states that i need 24 units of accounting, but i only have 8 units. So i will not be able too….
