CA – CPA License Application

This is probably a really stupid question, but on the Application for CPA license on the DCA website for California, under Section I on pg. 3 of the pdf it asks for “CPA Exam Unique ID” and “Date CPA Exam Passed” for Type A applicants.

    Do they just want my:
    1. “CBA Unique Identifier #” and the date of my last section passed; or
    2. “Exam ID number” for the last section passed and the date of my last section passed? <- this doesn’t make sense to me.. there are 4 sections, why do they only want the last Exam ID #?!

I really don’t want to mess this up as CA is changing their Ethics requirements on Jan. 1, 2017 and one small mistake during the licensing process will require me to go back to school for an accounting ethics class… So a lot is riding on whether I get this right or not.

I’ve attached the URL of the CA CPA license application:
    https://www.dca.ca.gov/cba/applicants/cpaapp.pdf

Honestly, the administrative side of applying for the CPA exams/license has been more brutal than actually studying for the exam. This whole process of applying for licensure is confusing. Sorry, just needed to vent. And somebody help! Please!

I put my CBA Unique Identifier # from my CBA account and I put the day of my last exam. Did not have any issues with my application.

Please be prepared for a long wait. From sending in my application to getting my number was a pretty long wait. But keep in mind, that the new ethics requirements will only apply to people who have outstanding documents. As long as you have all of your paperwork in and complete and your application is filed, then you are safe. If it is their fault that you aren't done, they won't apply the new requirements to you.

    Thanks Dewdewyah, this makes sense.
Also, I just received an e-mail from the CBA stating that this field is not a critical component of the application.
They just use it to help them find our files easier, so if it was left blank it wouldn't cause too big of an issue.
    Anyways, thanks again!!!
