Audit – Simulation Grading

    Question for anyone out there. I know that simulations are not adaptive unlike multiple choice. But let’s say one exam has more than half of their simulations referring to say ch 1 and easier chapters while another exam has the majority of their sims dealing with ch 4 transaction cycles and harder material. Is this fact taken into account in the grading process or so they assume all sims are of the same difficulty when grading?

    someone answered this in a recent post about audit simulations…. it is presume no special weight is given to harder sims question, regardless of chapters… they are all worth an avg 6 points

    Thanks for the reply rknight21..I read that post about AICPA releasing info stating that all sims (out of the 7 we receive) are worth 6 points each regardless of how many questions each sim contains. However, I don't think that is saying that all sims are graded equally according to weight (aka they could give you 80% for a sim that you get 50% right that is a really challenging sim vs they could give someone 70% for a sim that you get 50% right that is a really easy one). Does that make sense?

    @LaurenS and rknight21,

    I don't want to muck things up but I was speaking to Gary Bomash (Yaeger) regarding an Audit question prior to my exam and was asking about pretest questions on both the mcq and the sims. Gary said I should not think about it (of course that is what everyone says) but he said you never know you could get a pretest question as part of a simulation. I never had really thought of that before, I just assumed if it was pretest then the whole sim would be. If this is true then it is really hard to try to assign points to each of the sims…..at least that is what I got out of it.

    I am pretty sure the sims are graded based on difficulty too. They may not be adaptive to the MCQs, meaning the sims you get aren't based on how well or poorly you did on the MCQs, but I definitely think you get extra points for correctly answering a TBS that say 75% of people got incorrect. Just my opinion.
