I just sent my license application to CA board for process. I have no attest experience, I work for a small CPA firm and most of the time I am doing bookkeeping, payroll and tax. I applied for my license under 1 year general accounting experience. I asked my boss if there is a way I can do more audit, so I can get 500 hours attestation experience asap. He didn’t answer directly to my question. He just said when I work for audit, I should keep all audit workpaper since the board will check audit workpaper for verification when I meet 500 hours attestation and apply. But I know our company only has a few audit clients. I only have worked for 2 audit clients in the past whole year, around 20-30 hours. Now I am thinking I might not gain attestation experience in my current firm since I only provide 20-30 hours audit services each year. What should I do? Should I ask my boss again? What would you guys do if you were me? Finding a new job with auditor position? My goal is to meet 500 hours attestation experience asap. Thanks for any response.
