Any issues with certificate of experience sign off?

Hi all! I am sitting for the CPA exam in Colorado. I have well over the year of experience needed in lieu of the 150 credit hours and never really thought too much about it. Now that I am nearing the end of my journey, I’m starting to worry about getting the sign-off for my experience (probably should have thought about this first!). I was wondering if anyone had a problem getting your employer or past employer to sign off on the certificate. Thanks!

    Yes, currently working on it.

Here in NJ, every past employer needs to sign off on it, regardless of whether it was an accounting job or not.

So far every employer has given me issue with signing it or flat out refused without giving a reason. I only have corporate accounting experience so signing off on experience is not something that they regularly do.

I live in NJ also, I don't think you need all work experience to be listed in NJ on your statement of experience. Only the experience that will go towards your license, while working under a CPA. If you worked in McDonalds you don't need to put that.

    Yummit, thanks for responding.

I have already called and inquired about this in the past. According to the person I talked they require ALL post college experience regardless of whether it's applicable experience or not.

The statement of experience also specifically states all post college work experience and doesn't specify it being accounting related work.

When I stated that I had post college worked at numerous companies under numerous managers under temp agencies, they stated for that I can explain that in a separate sheet and signoff and get that notarized.

    Is NJ a NASBA state?

Yes as far as I know. While I am waiting to see what happens with the experience thing I got the CGMA certificate though. So I am rocking that after my name.
