I am currently in the process of taking the exam, but I have begun to worry about experience requirements. I am currently employed as a staff accountant for a great and growing company. I have been with the company for about a year and a half. By the time I pass the exam I will have met the 2 year experience in industry requirement of my two-tiered state. The problem is that my CPA direct supervisor for my first 8 months of employment left the company and was replaced by a non-CPA. The non-CPA is as experienced and knowlegeable as any CPA I have ever met. In many cases she has caught mistakes by our external CPAs. Is this going to prevent me from meeting my experience requirements? I would hate to have to leave the company as I have been basically promised second in command of the accounting and finance department once I get my CPA.

I don't know the answer to your question, but consider calling the state board. They have always seemed very nice and helpful. I am in AL but sitting under GA law because I lack 3 hours in tax. Needless to say, I was in contact with AL a lot trying to figure out the best way to get this over with in the shortest amount of time!! 🙂
