AICPA Ethics Exam – On Demand

    Hi guy’s,

I noticed on the AICPA’s website, they sell the ethics exam as “on demand” or “text”. Does on demand mean that we do not require a CD to be sent to use by mail? (I believe this was previously the case).

Has anyone taken the AICPA ethics exam recently?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I called my state cpa society regarding this and they said there is no longer a CD version for the ethics test. It has been replaced by an interactive online course.

I went with the textbook version and it costed $75 through my state cpa society for members, and is in the mail.

She did tell me if I wanted to go with the online version it would take a couple of weeks because they are just now switiching over to the interactive.

So, I take this to mean the on-demand still has to be shipped if the wait is a couple of weeks to get it?

This is ridiculous: It's 2014, the format should be instantly available for download. I find myself with nothing to do over the holiday weekend, and I just assumed the materials and exam were downloadable after purchase. Guess my idea for a productive ethics weekend is foiled.

I just bought the on demand version and I was able to access it. Sort of.

I had to try three different browsers – I couldn't get into it with Chrome or Internet Explorer. I had to download Firefox and then it finally opened.

It's really clunky. Trying to turn pages in the app takes an oddly long time.

No instructions were provided – it was trial and error to figure out how to access it. There's an indication that you can download it to your computer, but I can't find any way to actually do this. I don't know if it actually exists. The course refers to itself as a CD ROM.

Also I was really confused when I started. The text was confused and disjointed. I had no idea what the heck the course was talking about. It turns out it has an audio component that was muted.

This is like the cherry on top of our CPA exam trials. “Congrats, you passed all four sections of the exam… and now for the most annoying exam of all!”

I received the textbook version in the mail this morning and passed the ethics test about 30 mins ago. I'm glad I selected textbook because it made answering the questinos easier, because i could flip between multiple pages easily without constantly scrolling. you will have no problem passing it with on demand or textbook

I figured out that you can access a searchable PDF of the text by clicking the Resources tab and then “Study Guide.” So you do have the choice between listening to the lame narration and going through the slides or just reading the text.

You can download the PDF to your computer.

Excellent info impska, you probably saved me at least 30min of frustration.

The on-demand version is accessible through my AICPA account immediately after purchase. I use Firefox and had no problem with black screen. I downloaded the pdf version exactly like impska suggested, scrolled through all the slides, then started the exam and used Ctrl+f on the pdf to help answer questions. I do agree it's a bit clunky (large, and takes some clicks to figure out where to go).

There were 4-5 questions I thought about for way too long. Ended up getting mad and went with my gut. 3 hours total from purchase to pass. Passed with 100%, and my productive weekend was restored!

It didn't let me take the exam until I'd clicked through the slides, but that might have been avoidable if I'd looked harder.

You're right, Carebear. I also ended up having to click through the slides.

I ordered the textbook since I'm much better studying paper than online. I passed with 95%.

Does anyone know how it takes for the scores to be sent to particular State Boards? I took my Ethics more than a week ago and Illinois Board still hasn't received my score… ughhh

Can't find a PDF version of the study guide or a textbook type format at all. I really don't want to have to follow this all on a slide by slide basis.

Also, when you take the exam, is it timed?

    BEC - Passed (76)
    AUD - Passed (89)

Are you taking the AICPA course or does your state have its own? For the AICPA course – The .pdf should come when you register for the online course – I think I had both that and the slides.

If I remember right, it's not timed. Although the “to get licensed” version doesn't count for CPE (in my state anyway), I think it works the same way – you can come and go as you please and have a year to pass it before you have to pay for it again.

It is the AICPA exam. When did you take the test? I heard they changed it to an “interactive” style within the last year or less.
