I need to take the AICPA ethics exam and read on another thread that a poster wish’d they’d bought the CD instead of the on-demand version as with the CD they could search the PDF for key terms. I can’t find on the AICPA ethics course order form where the CD is offered, does anyone know? The only choices are listed below and I assumed, possibly wrongly, that “text” meant a physical book and not a CD.

I don't think they do the CD anymore but if you use product 155901, it lets you export the transcript and some other docs to PDFs and you can search there. I just did it last night.

Can you take the ethics exam before actually completing all 4 sections? Or does it depend on the state?

The Phoenix – Awesome, thank you so much for responding! Since each product was $160 I didn't want to purchase without getting feedback. How long did it take you to do the ethics exam? I think I read you have up to 8 hours but I wondered if it realistically took half that.

CheZheAd – I”m in WA and have 2 ethics requirements, 1 being AICPA and 1 being WA. WA Accounting Board informed me I needed to wait to take both until passing all 4 parts. I'd check with your state board and if in doubt e-mail them. That's what I did as on the WA licensing page it lists Pass CPA Exam as the first step but wasn't clear whether that was a requirement to move onto ethics. So, I'm glad I didn't waste time and money since passing all parts is required.

It took me 3-4 hours. Some people say it can be done in a lot less time though. I've seen several posts on here that say they completed it within 1-2 hours.

this might seem like a dumb question, but it automatically sends your pass to the state right? I selected Delaware at the top of the AICPA ethics exam, passed it and then all it said was a certificate would now be available. Do I need to mail that certificate in with my application to the State?

@ron – I believe it automatically sends the scores, but I printed an extra copy of my certificate and sent it in with my license application – just in case. 🙂

I did the on-demand version and it took a long time. You have to click through all the pages to get to the exam. With the text version you can just take the exam and probably save a lot of time. My opinion,of course.

I took online version. If I had to take again I wouldn't waste the time sitting through lecture. You can find most if not all answers through the search. Its easy, don't be intimidated by the people who tell you that you need the CD version.
