After passing all exams in TX

    Hello all,

    I just received my last section score today and finally passed all sections of CPA exams. I am a TX candidate. So, any suggestions on what I should do now while waiting for the big yellow envelope from the TX Board? I know, I will have to complete exam on TX Rules of Prof. Conduct, complete Application for License, and fill in the work experience forms, etc. But one thing I am not that clear is the 4-hour ethics course: is this course required only for obtaining a license or is it part of the continuing professional education (CPE) hours to maintain the CPA certificate?

    I just wanna know the procedures in advance, cos I guess there is still a long time before the envelope comes. So if anyone knows how to deal with that, just let me know. I appreciate it a lot!

    Thanks

    I think its required to get the license. I'm also in TX and also just passed. The packet got here suprisingly fast, took'em maybe a week so you'll soon be able to see for yourself. Congrats, homie!

    Thank you, honey! So is there a time limitation on taking this course? Say, em must take within 6 months before applying for the certificate? If so, we do not need to take it immediately, right?

    I'm from Texas too. Yes, the 4 hour Ethics Course has to be within 6 months of getting your license. I got my final passing score last Monday. I got my “packet” from the state on Thursday. Worked through every thing over the weekend including getting my supervisor to complete the work experience form on Friday. Mailed it back to them today! So EXCITED!!!!

    Yes….4 hr ethics course needs to be taken before they can certify you. Its very simple, in the package they send you, they will have the authorised agents with which you can take the ethics course. I picked up the cheapst jackass in there and paid 50 bucks for it.

    Listen to the lecture rant, do some MCQ's the same Dog and Ponny show ……

    Is this ethics course the same requirement as the ethics requirement to sit for the CPA exam?

    I already took a 3 hour ethics course to get my requirements fulfilled to sit for the CPA. Why would they make you do ethics again?

    @Shiggity80

    No, this in not the same as the 3 hour ethics course to meet requirements to sit for the exam. Mena is exactly right; it's not a big deal. I did the same thing. I ended up with a self study course that I downloaded a PDF document and a test. Looked up the answers and then submitted final exam answers on the providers website. Printed off a certificate to send to state. Took less than an hour and $40 or so.

    shiggity…

    They are in the business of making money. Not only they have their backs covered since we pay for it, but they are helping the ethics course review company as well. Only handful of companys only that we can take the review course from? kickbacks? you scratch my back, i scratch yours…..

    This is the norm, you want a cpa? pay up, license pay up, renewal pay up …..I never learned a single thing from the ethics course. Ethics is moral, common sense..No review course can teach anyone ethics…Money making bull & crap.
