Can anyone who has passed the exam and certified talk about how the certification has affected thare career? Whether is a salary increase, promotion, respect among peers or increased demand in the job market. I think those of us who are still working on the exam can you this info for motivation. Any responses would be helpful.

    Thanks

@Haze, great question…I'd like to hear some people's answers too. I am still trying to land a job in accounting with my ‘I've passed all sections of the CPA exam' so I can't really provide any insight just yet, unfortunately.

I work at a small CPA firm and got a small bonus upon passing the exam. Immediately upon certification I got about a 6% salary increase. Besides that I got business cards and I think I perhaps got a little more job security and the future potential of moving up faster, I hope.

But most importantly I got the proverbial monkey off my back and freedom to do something other than study in my free time. I am getting a golden retriever pup this summer as my reward for passing. I am going to name him Prometric…….NOT!

The partners have a chance to charge or sell a little more, by pitching that the client's fieldwork will be handled by a certified staff. I think it's fair to say that there's a little more trust involved, i.e. if you mess around, you could get reported and sued, so in essence, that risk implies that you'll be slightly better behaved (but we all know about Bernie Madoff's accountant!)

    Couldn't pass again!
