I’m kind of between a rock and hard place. We currently live in NC and this is where I do all my testing. The experience requirement for NC is 1 year directly supervised by a CPA or 4 years in accounting with a supervisor that is not a CPA. The company I have been working for since November of last year is very small, and I do not have a CPA supervising me. So, that means I will need 4 years with the company for my boss to sign off on this requirement.
The tricky part; my husband is active duty military. We typically move every three years and expect to do so again in the summer of 2016. This will put me just shy of 3 years with my current company. The decision I am torn between is 1) staying with the company and hope the Marine Corps keeps my husband here long enough to complete my 4 years (this is unlikely, not even reasonably possible and shouldn’t even be disclosed in the notes) or 2) begin searching for another job where I can work under a CPA for at least a year.
Disclosures: I love my current job, make a great salary, and have a very flexible work schedule. Also, the idea of just finding a job to work somewhere for a year (plus the amount of time we have left here) seems very unfair to a prospective employer.
Thoughts? What would you do?
