Does anyone know if my direct supervisor needs an active CPA license to sign off on my work experience? I work in and will apply to be licensed in Delaware. My supervisor is licensed in Maryland but, because we work for the Federal Government, she has let her license become inactive. To the best of my knowledge, the State of Delaware will allow a Maryland CPA sign off on experience.

My supervisor says that she has signed off on the experience of a Maryland candidate with no problem. Does anyone know if the State of Delaware will allow a CPA with an inactive license sign off on my experience?

I have emailed the Delaware Board of Accountancy for an answer but I don’t expect to receive a quick response from them.

    REG - 11/5/2012 - 80
    BEC - 1/17/2013 - 76
    AUD - 2/22/2013 - 70 4/5/2013 - 75
    FAR - 5/28/2013 - 75 - Done!!!

Question: What do you call someone who only gets 75's and 76's on the four parts of the CPA exam?

    Answer: A CPA

Not sure about your state but in Louisiana they have to be active. Pretty sure it's the same in most if not all states

You should be able to go to your state society of cpa's website and it should tell you.

In Louisiana if the cpa supervisor had an active license in any state during the four years prior to your obtaining a license and supervised you during the period they were active then they can sign. This was my case, my cpa supervisor was inactive in Louisiana and in retired status in Texas but had been active during my supervision. You should call your board and ask.
