    Hi all,

I am waiting for my last score and I am really not bothered about it coz whether or not I pass all the 4 sections, I am still unemployed!!! I graduated in summer of ’09……yes it has been almost 2 yrs……..the 1st yr after my graduation I did some non accounting clerical job…….it did not pay much…..just enough to get by……………..and its been about 6 months I have been unemployed and looking for a job or internship and worrying like crazy……I am working on honing my Excel skills, it kills my time but its getting me nowhere either. The employers want a minimum of 1 yr accounting experience and I have none…………………………………….anyone on the same boat?

You could always look into temp jobs, often they can lead to further employment or at the very least add to your experience

    B - 85 (5/31/11)
    A - 93 (7/1/11)
    R - 87 (7/29/11)
    F - 77 (8/31/11)

The economy sucks, it really is hard. I started off with a temp job and I was able to get an audit job pretty soon after.

    B 2/12 87
    A 11/11 90
    R 8/11 86
    F 5/12 88

soon2b where do you live? I would look into Ajilon, I have experience with Accountemps and Ajilon, I would choose Ajilon over account temps. A temp position is how I landed a very good job. I would defintely look into it. Also, post your resume on Indeed.com, Once you have CPA on your resume recruiters will find you!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Easy to get a job with a big 4 firm? I had a 3.7 and a masters in accounting coming out of school and Ernst & Young didn't even give me an interview.

Yes, the economy is tough. I interviewed with 4 or 5 different firms and only 1 offered. I was lucky enough to land an entry level job as an audit associate at a medium sized firm. Just keep researching and applying for everything. Contact firms and get your name out there. If your school has a career service, utilize it.

    FAR - F (2011), 5/16
    AUD - F(2011)
    BEC -
    REG -

2nd attempt at this thing. Time to get serious.

re:big4, you can have the highest GPA but if you're too old or dont go to a college where they heavily recruit, you're going to have a tough time getting in.

@ak311, many Masters accounting graduates weren't getting offers at the big4 probably because all the spots were taken up by the undergrads who got their offers after summer interning

Thank you all for your advice

I will try Accountemps and Ajilon soon. @Peanut I live in CA, I hope they have Ajilon here.

How hard are the Accountemp Excel questions?

I would say I know the basics n I learned some more advanced stuff like h and v look ups, macros, pivot tables.

Any suggestions on what else in particular I should learn in excel?
