74 in AUD. AGAIN! How should I plan Q2? Should I summon the NINJA?!

Hi everyone. As you can tell by the topic title, I’m one frustrated candidate with two consecutive 74’s in Audit. Right now, I’m in the middle of preparing for REG and the latest I can take it in Q2 is May 20th. I feel that I may need all the time I can get to be prepared for this exam since Tax/B-Law aren’t really my strengths. At the same time, I feel like I should take another stab at AUD before the Q2 window. Is it crazy to consider taking REG May 7th and AUD May 19th? I haven’t looked at AUD since mid February and I know it’s wiser to start from scratch. However, I lose BEC credit at the end of the year and to have to have 2 windows to focus only on FAR would be amazing.

As for Jeff’s NINJA notes, the BOGO deal for Audit and Reg is very tempting. I’ve read the testimonials, but has anyone else used them? In Jeff’s “50 Things to Know” article, he suggests writing out/re-writing out notes. Would re-writing and re-writing NINJA notes be just as good? FYI – I’m using 2011 Becker study materials.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

I cannot attest to the NINJA notes…but I'm guessing any kind of notes wouldn't hurt. However, if you wrote/re-wrote your own notes they would probably stick in your head better.

The thing with AUD is that the questions are poorly worded, ambiguous, and vauge. So it really becomes a test of theory application. The more MC questions you do, the more used you will be to working them and easily identify what they are looking for.

I used Becker and managed to get a 74 last May. I was devastated – but I reviewed the book, made notes, did flashcards, and re-worked MC questions and really mastered the material. Obviously based on my score on the re-take, it worked. You're the only one who can determine what is an appropriate amount of study time. Keep in mind many of the topics may still be familiar to you since you just took the exam. I would strongly consider sitting again for it as soon as possible due to the familiarity factor.

My best advise would be to first and foremost, keep your head up and become determined to show those examiners a passing score. Also, review the schedule you receive with your score indicating what you were weaker in…and take that to heart and iron out those kinks and then brush up on the rest. You CAN do this!

I hope to see you in the score release forum in the next testing window! Good luck!

thank you for the words of encouragement! I would love to study and take Audit asap. However, since I've already started my REG review and *must* take it in Q2 (otherwise my NTS will expire), I don't think i can justify taking audit before attempting REG. I already plan on blitzing my REG material all of April and taking it in May. My dilemma is whether to sacrifice an extra week or two of studying for REG for a somewhat long-shot chance at Audit in Q2.
