4 Hour Board Ethics course exemption? Texas

I sent in my Letter of Intent May 2015.

Passed all parts of the CPA exam August 2016.

Called Texas State Board of Public Accountancy to ask a question about a fee, and the lady told me I am exempt from taking the 4 hour CPE ethics course this year, because my credit from college is still good until May 2017.

    Has anyone heard of this?

    BEC - 77 (5/16)
    AUD - TBD (8/16)
    REG - 80 (1/16)
    FAR - 76 (8/15)

This is the first I heard of it. From the instructions, it seemed the college ethics class requirement is separate from the CPE ethics hours requirement. However, if you can skip the CPE, you save $40 and a couple of hours. It's worth a shot.

That is what they told me as well. I just got licensed last Monday (in TX). Was surprised when I heard it.

Thanks @jbergmann1. So you got your license without doing the 4 hr cpe ethic class? No issues?

I even called back to verify with them.

Correct, I did not have to take the 4 hr CPE ethics course.

As a side note, I did take the 4 hr ethics CPE anyway at the urging of my boss and it was very informative. (it didn't count for anything though sadly).
