I just passed my last section, but I’m still short 27 credits from reaching 150. I have an undergraduate degree in accounting, and all of my accounting and business course requirements have been fulfilled. Does anyone know what the requirements are for getting to the 150? Like, can I continue to take undergraduate classes despite already having my degree? I’m working full time right now, so I’m really just looking to take some easy classes just to get the credits as it’s my last hurdle towards becoming a CPA.

I'm pretty sure as long as you have the required minimum Acct and business credits, your other credits can basically be anything, at least this is what I was told by others who went through the process. I am in the same boat, after I pass everything, I still need to get the extra 30 credits to be licensed. I really hope I'm not giving you false information, wish I could be more helpful. Don't know if it varies from state to state either, but I am in NJ.

    AUD(2/16/11) 51,64, retake Oct.

I think the hours can be in anything. Last year I went back to school to get 21 more credit hrs after getting my Acctg degree 10 yrs ago. I was able to take 7 random online classes through a local community college, and this was approved by NASBA as appropriate for the 150 hours.

LSU distance learning is a good option.

I believe this us up to your state board. I got my extra hours from a community college BUT Texas no longer accepts those as extra hours. Luckily I was grandfathered in; so I suggest you check with your state board.

    REG-80, 77, 77
    BEC-67, 68, 71, 67, 71, 74, 71, 74, 72, 77
FAR- 72, 65,67, 53, 75 (truth be known the 53 was with 4 hours of studying)
    AUD-58, 62, 72, 74, 74, 75
took 5 years but I'm DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It depends on your state's requirements. Add up the total credits for accounting/economics/business/business law classes very carefully, as the differential can be very small; for instance in NY, the difference between the grandfathered 120 and the current 150 is 3 credits in accting/econ/bus/bus law, which is about 1 class. The other credits can be in anything.

    Couldn't pass again!

I used ROTC to get my 150. Business major with accounting concentration with ROTC got me 144. I took two creative thinking courses.

So I wouldn't go taking advanced calculus for the underachieving MENSA candidate.

    BEC - Pass 10/2010
    FAR - Pass 10/2010
    AUD - Pass 11/2010
    REG - Pass 05/2011

Ohio waives the 150 hour requirement if you can obtain a 620 on the GMAT. Not an easy task (it's about the 70th percentile of test takers). However, saves a lot of money (and time) if you can succeed. That's the route I took.

I had 136 credits and recently passed the exam. Since I already met the 24 credit hours of Accounting and 24 credit hours in general business, I could take anything. So I took the following (all online except for Tax 2).

    1. Tax 2 – 3 Credits

    2. Gov't Acctg – 3 Credits

    3. Keyboarding – 3 Credits

    4. Proofreading – 3 Credits

    5. Online gym/health class – 2 credits…..

Yeah,,,,,,,, the last 3 are NOT misprints………..
