15 Exams and 3 Years later….I'm done!

    To everyone on this forum….Thank You….and especially to you Jeff….THANK YOU.

    After 3 years, 15 exams and (approximately) $7,400 later (exam fees, Full Becker classroom, software, books, Yaeger, etc.)….I finally passed all four parts.

    n

    I wanted to quit a while ago after my second 74 and (in my mind) I did quit back in October. I owe Allyson (CPAWannabe….with one “e”) and Jeff Elliot for being there for me when I was down. I decided to get up, give it ONE MORE hard push..and see what happened. Thank you YAEGER AUDIO which I listened to every day to and from work. Cindy, Phil & Gary are GREAT!

    So to those of you who are thinking of throwing in the towel………DON’T……I’m no example to follow but I did learn a lot about the exams having taken 15 of them….so I know what I’m taking about……

    Since this forum has been a daily part of my life for 2 years now…I plan on staying active in it.

    n

    I do have some advice for those just starting out but I think I’ll save that for another post.

    n

    BTW – having the stress and weight of not having to study any more….is an incredible feeling…..

    You deserved it! Enjoy and have a Happy Holidays!. It was a long and agonizing week for us here in CA but we survived the rain and finally the sun shines today and got our results! I agree with you that this forum keeps us sane for the past week! Congratulations again!n

    Don't take this the wrong way, but I passed all four with very high scores on the first try. The whole thing really wasn't all that difficult for me. BUT…if it was, I don't think I would have continued. I'd have given up and said screw it. So the people like you who persevere are the ones who deserve the accolades, not the ones like me who pass on the first try and don't know that sinking stomach feeling of failure, wanting to quit, depression, helplessness, etc.

    I totally agree with you, whitesox. It should feel incredible, after achieving something that once hunted you. Congrats to all candidates that are dealing with the struggles of the CPA exam and remember to always believe in yourselves.n

    I passed after 8 exams and I can tell you it has been difficult 1.5 years of my life, maybe the hardest… So I can only imagine how Cpawannabee feels… Both cpawannabEE and CPAwannaBE helped me a lot with their inspiring stories and posts and many other things… Thank you, thank you, thank you. Jeff, thank you. This is an amazing site. A few other people reached out to me and turned to friends from complete strangers…Thank you whitesox, herbert, suzzette, what happened to glogo?

    A lot of posts here inspired me to take the CPA exam and they are from strangers which I know thru their screen name but their experiences helped me a lot to passed all 4 exams this year !. They became a part of my family and daily life. Thank you all!

    Congrats! I first tried the exams in November 2004 (I was in my last class for college). I failed all 4 parts.

    Then I gave up until May of 2010, I tried again. And I passed all 4 parts this time.

    n

    It was a LOT of work, but it was worth it.

    WhiteSoxFanCPA…I completely understand and don't take it the wrong way. I actually get PSYCHED when I see folks posting here that they past all four parts after only 4-6 exams. I do the same thing when an opponent of mine during a golf match has a long putt…..I'll actually HOPE he makes it…..because it's a beautiful thing to watch!

    StudyHard….you're going to like the Yaeger course. It's completely different than Becker (which I still like…the Becker Books are great) but Phil & Cindy seem to “get through” to student. “I get it” was how I felt after listening.n

    I think Becker focuses on the exam questions only. You need to have solid background in the topics. Yaeger goes into more details. I think it would be best if you combine the two.n
