1040 Schedule A "question for General sales tax"

    I have a question about filing2010 tax return for Schedule A for the following lines:

    For Line 5 State and Local sales tax, I checked box B which is the general sales tax and

    I purchased the car in FEB 2010 and paid sales tax, so Can I combine that sales tax to box B?

    Yeah, it's deductible. Check out the Sch A instructions for details.

    You might want to make sure what you paid in state income taxes is not more as lots of times it is. You get either or the state income tax deduction or sales tax deduction. Pretty much had to put something in there for those that don't pay state income tax so they made the sales tax deduction.
