I saw a thread like this for 2018, so I’m starting a new one for 2019.

Here’s where I’m at so far:

1/7/19 — mailed in full application form along with check, except for work experience certificate
1/9/19 – delivered to CBA (based on UPS tracking #)
as of now – check not cashed yet
Heard the CBA is very slow – let’s see how long it will take…

    AUD - 91
    BEC - 94
    FAR - 91
    REG - 82
CPA - Tough journey, but totally worth it!

    Updated update:

    Update:

    1/31/19 passed last exam (FAR!)
    3/2/19 passed ethics
3/27/19 (today) mailing out license application
3/29/19 application arrived at CBA per tracking
4/4/19 email response from CBA that they have my application being processed by the cashier unit, which can take up to 2 weeks. Then it will go to the initial licensing unit and it should be reviewed within 30 days of receipt at the office.
4/8/19 email from CBA that they have received my application and I need to do a live scan. I did this already so I have emailed it over to them – I thought I had put it in with my app but I guess I did not. Next step is for them to review application and documents 🙂
    4/17/19 check cleared the bank

    this is dumb.

Got my email! So they made it to March 19th cashiered date on April 22.
Kay-this doesn't make a whole ton of sense if you called them today because I got my email at 8:30 am this morning… so that is a bit strange, maybe they're doing a few days at a time? I dunno.

One thing I forgot to be clear on for everyone else that isn't making phone calls on the regular, note that my cashiered date was the day after I showed it received at the cba via tracking, and when it cleared the bank wasn't relevant, it's just when they open the letter and put your application in the “paid” stack.

@TerriSilva my time frame is similar to yours. I also got an email that I am short 2/3 of a credit from ethics study. 2/3! seriously? I was lucky to find “Organizational Behavior” class through Lake Tahoe Community College that has just started (4/22) and it's only 10 weeks long. Thank god I was able to sign up late, otherwise I would have to wait till Summer quarter or even Fall!

@CPAwannab I found an ethics class online at Foothill Community college that is 5 1/2 weeks long and starts May 20th. Maybe you can do that one, instead? I applied on Monday, sent my transcripts via email on Tuesday, and registered yesterday. Pretty fast, luckily!

WAIT. I took a class called Leadership and Professional Skills for Accountants…shouldn't that be the same as Accountants' Professional Responsibilities? Maybe they missed it on my transcripts?

@Terrisilva can you call and ask about that class? I wonder if they have the ability to pull up your transcripts and check that for you. I thought I have enough “ethics sounding” classes but now I wonder if they did not count one or some of them? The one I found at LTCC is exactly the same title as the one accepted by CBA so should be ok

I left a message (they never answer) and replied to their email. Here is the description of the class I took:

Through practice and multiple assessments, this course focuses on the knowledge and development of managerial skills needed to advance in the accounting profession. The skills emphasized in the course include: written and oral communication, critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, teamwork, managing change and conflict, negotiation, networking and delegating.
    Prerequisites: BUS 3050, Graduate Standing

    It's worth a try anyway.

    Timeframe:

04-05-2019 Application and $250 check mailed to CBA
04-08-2019 Application received per tracking, check not cashed
04-11-2019 Received email from CBA stating application was received, check still not cashed
    04-19-2019 Check for $250 cashed
    04-24-2019 Passed PETH exam
05-01-2019 CPA Licensure Initial Status Letter from CBA stating they require Verification of out-of-country supervisor's license from the licensing body in India.(I have experience from India)

Did anyone here had to go through a similar situation? Did any of you need a license verification of your supervisor because your experience was in another state(Outside California)? Would like to know how all of it went through for you? CBA is supposed to send a verification form for the same, but they haven't. I have replied to them on the email, but haven't got a reply yet.

    The waiting game begins!

Terri congrats on being so close and that sucks they pushed back with the ethics course. I am somewhat familiar with their ethics class requirement as I had to take one myself last year before I was able to fully get my application accepted. I hope I am wrong but I dont think they'll accept that leadership and professional skills for accountants class. When I inquired about a class I had taken in my undergrad years ago relating to a general financial professional ethics and responsibilities class; they didn't accept it on the grounds it didn't specifically have “accountants” and “ethics” in the course name or description. i really do hope they allow your class to work.

There is somewhere on the CBA website where they give a description of the type of class that fulfills this, and i think they even elaborate a bit on what the coursework must be about and what the description of the class must include.
