Finally, I am asked to make up 8 accounting credits for License purpose. The board said any accounting courses offered by a community college count.
I want to take some fancy and practical accounting courses, but not sure whether they can be counted as accounting credits.
They are named “excel accounting applications” and “payroll and business tax accounting”. They are both ACNT-1XXX courses.
Any suggestions that I can take those courses or I’d better to choose something else.

I believe Michigan agrees with all the accredited colleges or universities. They accept lower level courses. I remember you said it took very long to finish a UNA course, isn’t it? I prefer to finish them very quickly and get licensed immediately. It took me 4 months to finish all the CPA exams and I don’t want to spend more than 3 months for making up the credits. That would be tedious…

Community Colleges will be easier and quicker to deal with than Universities, isn't it?

You misunderstood my post. I said it is taking ME months but in reality, the course can be finished within 30 days. I'm just a very busy person and just haven't been working on the course.

    Hey @ Lucky88,

I actually took all the accounting courses through UNA in order to help me get the additional credits i needed for Licensing with the state of CT.

Each accounting course i took from UNA was accepted by the state of CT without a hitch. Believe me i was like you, going crazy trying to find all the rules and to see if UNA was accredited etc. UNA is accredited, and the online courses were the most affordable ones that I was able to find.

For around $500 you get a full 3 credit online course. I am not sure what the prices of colleges are where you are, but around my area $500 for a course was a bargain. My community college (norwalk community college) wanted $ 1300 for a 3 credit course, and it would mean i would have to actually go to class etc. I work full time i don't have time for that lol…UNA courses were all upper level accounting courses, as i had compared the courses i had taken already at my community college to the ones UNA was offering, and i even confirmed with the department head as well.

Another cool part about UNA was that the department head of accounting told me that if you have successfully passed all four sections of the CPA exam, then you do not have to worry about meeting the prerequisites that are shown for their accounting courses (which was a relief because that also means i did not have to send them my transcripts from my other schools just so they could verify that i met their prerequisites).

And the courses are fully 100% online, and you can go at your own pace. Most of them are 8 quizzes, and 4 tests which make up the bulk of your final grade. The summer semester started in the end of May and we had until 7/29/2020 to get our course work done, but i actually finished all three courses that i took in three weeks (spent one week per course). And yes you can use the CPA Wiley text books to help you supplement, and a lot of their stuff is from that those textbooks, but at the end of the day they were pretty easy course.. and trust me i did not want to put in a lot more effort than need be since passing the CPA exam had taken up all my fuel.

Anyways just my two cents on UNA courses. Wish you the best of luck in your bright CPA future!

It sounds great to finish a course within a week. For those States require upper level courses, UNA will be the number one choice as the tuition fee is so affordable.
