Does everyone rewrite their notes? How many times? And do you find it to be beneficial? I got an 69 on my FAR retake and I am hammering out MCQ’s and understanding why they are wrong, understanding JE’s and rewritting the ninja notes.

I rewrote my notes twice, but I didn't just write them. I would try to read one – three sentences a couple times, until it soaked in and then rewrote those couple sentences w/o having to look back at my notes. Then I would read what I wrote and reread what I was writing from the ninja notes. I wasn't just mindlessly writing them down, that won't do anything for you. I tried to make it more engaging. Usually by the second time writing them, I already had them almost memorized. If I read a sentence, I almost always knew what was to follow. Hope that helps.

I used Ninja notes plus made my own notes. I didn't re-write the entire set of notes. I re-wrote areas where I had trouble. I found it wasn't effective or time efficient to re-write areas I knew. I read over both set of notes several times.

I rewrite mine as notecards, and do it after each section completed. This way, after I finish a section, I can constantly quiz myself in any spare time. I've found that this keeps the material constantly fresh in my mind.

I never did rewrite my notes. I took some notes and during the final stage i would refine the notes i have and make sure to add the ones that i feel are important or that i need to focus on. I pretty much just read the whole book during my final review and that seemed to really help.

I am a big believer in rewriting notes. I do it both in college and for the CPA. It's a good way to help you refresh your memory.

I am using Becker and I literally go through and rewrite everything I have highlighted or underlined. It's a pain, but I have done this for FAR and BEC and passed both on the first try. I would highly recommend doing it!

    F - 2/15/2014 - 85
    B - 2/26/2014 - 88
    R - 4/1/2014 - 83
    A - 4/21/2014 - 95

Hey I agree with Maxwell as far as writing as notecards. and yes it is a pain. I feel like I will have 1000 cards when I am done. I have the ninja flash cards but I can't get it to work so I gave up on that. When I purchased cpaexcel (out of sheer excitement) I purchased the flashcards (250 per section) as well. Now I find out they have so many more within the program. Anyway, I agree with writing and rewriting the notes and making them into note cards if possible. To be honest I feel like the writing will never end, but I hope its worth it.

Re-writing notes is not effective for me. If you study the notes you're writing while studying and understand them, you shouldn't have to re-write them. It saves a lot of time and keeps you from getting frustrated. But then, that's just me.

    REG - 78
    FAR - 79
    AUD - 76
    BEC - 75

I have been on this journey off and on for over 10 years. I think it's about time that I wrap this up.

    AUD - 10/21/16 (75----07/2010 expired)
    FAR - 10/28/16
    BEC - 11/2016
    REG - 01/2017
