After a decade, I’m moving “Ask Jeff” to the forum…

    Have a question?
Need help with a Study Plan?
Frustrated about your career and need to vent?
    Need Study Motivation?

Ask me anything. In 10+ years of doing this, I’ve seen it all. ๐Ÿ™‚

It's been pretty dead in here lately.

So everyone in the family at is home in quarantine, so I guess now is good of a time as any to ask, how does everyone keep focused and on target when life happens throws you a little (or not so little) curveball.

Studying for the exam can be a distraction from all the things going wrong right now. Studying is something you can control in a world a little out of control. Taking these exams is a choice. Embrace it! Enjoy it! I did and I love being a licensed CPA with all the opportunities in our profession right now. As for studying, I think people stress trying to memorize. If you focus on learning and let the information in it will be less stressful and a much more satisfying experience. COVID is stressful. Avoid it by staying home to study and engage with others here who can help you and share your experience. Youโ€™ve got this. Good luck!๐Ÿ€

Monikernc Thanks for the wonderful advice. My husband keeps reminding me to stress and focus on the things the things we are able to control. He also keeps pushing me to keep moving forward whenever I get stuck and too focused on an area (you can always come back to it and a break from it may help)

We survived a year at home and were just getting used to the getting back to a somewhat “regular” schedule, if anything this pandemic has taught us is to expect the unexpected and to adjust to constant changes.

Looking at exam as a choice and something under our own control is empowering!

It is so true! Remember you can post questions here. Jeff just put the study sections up on the forum again. Folks will help. If you are a Ninja subscriber watch the videos and the CRAM sessions. I found free videos on youtube too that helped me with the more difficult topics. Again, donโ€™t just memorize: LEARN! Memory may fail you but knowledge will serve you.
You can do this! Good luck! ๐Ÿ€

Had to take a break from studies in order to homeschool the kids while we were all in quarantine (Thankfully there were only minor symptoms and everyone is recovered) Now comes the familiar feeling of guilt from stopping, and dread/regret of staring back up again. Any tips on recovery and getting back on track now that the holiday season is ramping up.
