Sometimes I find motivation (angry, angsty motivation – but motivation nonetheless) in a past love interest of mine who, despite my many attempts to officially “date”, wanted nothing to do with me during normal business hours, per se. This was in my first year in public accounting (his too) so on top of all that was, essentially, my first year of real adulthood – student loans, strict bosses, learning the ropes on the job, no more college – I was also having my heart beat up by a guy I really liked, who knew it, who was very obviously taking advantage of it. I didn't get it then, but of course I see it now. Anyway, he was renowned in the department for not being the brightest bulb in the pack but my favorite part, in the current day and age, is that he is still not a CPA. I know for a fact he's not even trying. Maybe that makes me bitchy but … it makes me motivated too. Anything it takes, right????

Moral of the story @kkimi05: If there are any crappy ladies in your past, think about how much cooler than them you will be once you are a CPA!

My motivation for a retake is that I will lose the credit for another section if I don't take it in the upcoming window.

FAR is a beast and the amount of material can be overwhelming but keep in mind that once it's over you can have some freedom back and take that nice vacation.

Maybe you can use a screensaver of your vacation destination to look at as motivation πŸ™‚

I am on my last exam and my motivation is that I am almost done! I plan on taking in November, which means I could be a CPA in January 2014. Not only that, but if I pass in November, no studying in December, which means I will have more time to celebrate my oldest son's birthday on the 15th and more time for family during the Christmas festivities. I can't wait to be done and that is what pushes me to get up in the morning to study.

    REG - 64, 72, 81!
    FAR - 77
    AUD - 79
    BEC - 72, 79! And Done!

In the same boat…….passed 3 tests and have AUD left. I literally went 2 weeks without opening my review material a single time. I think it's easy to get burned out with this test, especially towards the end. I started going to the library every day, highly recommended because it takes away all your distractions. I also work in offline mode, and leave my phone in the car which has really helped.

I didn't pass FAR in July and started studying for BEC but cancelled it in August to restudy FAR… UGH! I'm in the no motivation zone also. Or just exhausted and overworked mom zone! Be grateful you are so close! If I could go back I WISH I would have done it when I graduated, before kids. Oh it would have been less complicated for sure. Good luck and get this done! You are SOO CLOSE!

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

lol, I'm in the same situation as you. I took REG/BEC/AUD over the course of like 35 days, but now it's time for me to study for FAR, and even though I have like 1.5 months allotted for study time, I just haven't felt like starting! I'm already four chapters behind on my Becker study plan. I know the best answer is just to DO IT. If you wait till you are motivated, you won't get it done. You have to just do it, then once you build up some momentum, you will keep at it.

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

Motivation can't be forced. But you can go and review 10 pages, watch 1 video, or answer 20 questions and write out answers to any got wrong. You could even put a lecture on your mp3 player and go for a walk. Just go do. Then reward yourself for getting it done. Lather, rinse repeat. πŸ˜‰

Now quit your posting and go study. πŸ˜‰
