Hello fellow NINJAs…i am having a hard time to start studying for my last section…..FAR! I am planning to take it on Nov 14th…so I am a little over 8 weeks out right now. I still have the time to do it, I just don’t have the motivation like I have had for the last three tests….please help! Do you guys hit these type or ruts? Any tips or words you can give me to get my lazy butt up and start to study? I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, to make it better, FAR is a monster in terms of volume, so have fun!

Any tips? Ya, get to studying, do you really want to do this AGAIN? No. Suffer for 8 more weeks and pass, or suffer for 8 more weeks + the additional weeks of studying for the retake.

Find out what is drawing your attention away from studying, and cut it out of your life for the next 8 weeks. You may need to go study at the library for a couple of weeks to get into FAR study mode.

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
    FAR - Dec 4,13 Pass

I'm in the same boat @kkimi05…I just started and I'm already having trouble focusing. Nothing in particular distracts me, I will literally zone out for way too long. My motivation is that I do NOT want to retake it, so I NEED to get going and FAST. I'm about 60% of the way done with F1 homework, and will finish today. Then I'll work on F2 this weekend and go from there. Let me know if you find the trick to focusing!

F2 is a monster and can be / has been very discouraging for most of us…don't let it get you down! Keep plowing through it and go back to it later if you are really struggling with it.

Good luck guys! I have to re-study for FAR starting next month and I am DREADING that F1-F10 process.

thanks everyone for all of your kind words…@oilgaslb i wish i knew the trick on focusing, if I find it I will definitely let you know and every NINJA know. But what got me by with the last 3 tests, was focusing on being able to put those awesome three letters after my name, and the fact that when I am finished I am going to plan one awesome vacation…maybe Hawaii :-). But I try to focus on this for FAR, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore. Good luck on your FAR studying…and you too @lauriemarie5…when are you two taking it?

I'm taking it on Nov. 23rd. My motivation is I have no choice because I can't push it back since the following weekend is Thanksgiving then December is obviously a no-go. I have no choice but to be ready by then and pray for the best 🙂

I too was planning on November 23! I am trying to decide though if 7.5 weeks is enough time to restudy…the idea of having to take it a 3rd time is not optional for me…i HAVE to pass next time so I don't want to rush, but i also don't want to drag ass!

Sometimes I find motivation (angry, angsty motivation – but motivation nonetheless) in a past love interest of mine who, despite my many attempts to officially “date”, wanted nothing to do with me during normal business hours, per se. This was in my first year in public accounting (his too) so on top of all that was, essentially, my first year of real adulthood – student loans, strict bosses, learning the ropes on the job, no more college – I was also having my heart beat up by a guy I really liked, who knew it, who was very obviously taking advantage of it. I didn't get it then, but of course I see it now. Anyway, he was renowned in the department for not being the brightest bulb in the pack but my favorite part, in the current day and age, is that he is still not a CPA. I know for a fact he's not even trying. Maybe that makes me bitchy but … it makes me motivated too. Anything it takes, right????

Moral of the story @kkimi05: If there are any crappy ladies in your past, think about how much cooler than them you will be once you are a CPA!
