About to follow through on my common threat of putting my foot through the monitor. Even after I have now reviewed F2 by reading the entirety of it AND writing notes, these godforsaken questions are still tripping me up! Talk about a chapter that was absolutely botched…

I think I’m about to just give it up for tonight and revisit this tomorrow..I’ve spent 10.5 hours studying today, so I don’t feel too bad about stopping. I’ve allotted myself 10 hours just to review F3 tomorrow, so I think I can afford to dip into it for the 2-3 hours it will take me to finish F2’s homework and sims all over again.

When tomorrow comes around, there will only be 8 days standing between my first section of the CPA exam and me…yikes.

As a side note, if I get hit heavy with foreign currency material on my exam, I will know it’s not my exam and I’ll have to retake it–that is the one area in ALL of FAR that no matter what I am convinced I will not get, especially in sim form.

I agree about foreign currency and hedging! Blah! That and pensions, leases, NFP, Gov, COSO, Inventory Valuation…pretty much all of it was terrible actually!

F2 is a nightmare. The supplemental questions are especially difficult.

I just finished the first set of homework MCQ in F2 for the second time…surprisingly, my score jumped from a 61 to a 79! As much as it sucks, I guess it really is true that going through it the second time around is much better!

I think that's my peak for the F2 material, though. If I do any better than that it will be an act of God, not of skill.

I agree, first time through F2 and it is rocking me…I have until November to take the exam though so hopefully that will be plenty of time.

Kind of odd that a lot of us are on F2 right now. I just got done with the sections 3-7 (of 8) in F2 today. I gave myself 5 weeks to studying and had it all planned out… Suffice to say I have had to adjust my schedule already a few times because of F2…

Looking into the rest of the chapters, to me it seems like F2 is by far the hardest topic-wise.

The thing about F2 is that, on paper, it doesn't look like it would be as hard as several others. However, you get into it and it just has pockets of hell around every corner. Nonmonetary exchange and foreign currency in particular are two areas where I have essentially thrown in the towel at this point…if my exam goes heavily on those two topics for some reason, then it's just not in the cards for me this time.

Unfortunately it's a bumpy road until F8 comes along…looking forward to my review day for that! It will be like a vacation.

I'm glad to see that others have had such a hard time on F2. The Timing Issues MC's are possibly the most frustrating thing I've ever been through. I just finished all the lectures and all the MC's as of yesterday. I take FAR on 7/31 so I am trying to lay a ground plan for my final review.

I thought the same about F8 Being easy and F9 but Not for profits completely took me by surprise lol I barely got a 73% my first time through.

I completely agree about foreign currency and hedging. That was one of my best subjects in FAR, only because I took an ENTIRE intensive course in college on international finance and hedging. The class itself was a struggle, so I can't imagine going into FAR studying trying to figure out the material without any prior knowledge. I feel your pain.

I am doing F2 right now and am almost in tears…its taking forever to get through the HW….i might stay awake the whole night…might as well not sleep till after exam 🙁

Haha…I think I'd rather cry than get as angry as I do. I'm sure this exam will bring me plenty of tears some day soon.

Oh by the way @MN_CPA, F2 gets a LOT easier once you memorize the formulas. I found that once I knew the installment sale formulas, a lot of my problems were gone. Foreign currency is another matter, however…
