    Yup. FAR 69 🙁

I have seen this mentioned over and over – It’s usually not a good sign to walk out of the test center feeling good. Conversely, it seems when you walk out feeling like you were hit by a train, its usually good. Why is this? Why does the human mind play this trick? How do I avoid this again? I already have BEC scheduled and that NTS expires 10/6 so I will be taking FAR in mid November. I plan to start from scratch like its the first time.

    A (05/23/12) 92
    R (07/02/12) 77
    F (08/29/12) 69 Retake 2/27/13 80
    B (10/22/12) 79

My theory, drawn from personal experience, is that every time I felt I passed and ended up failing, I actually wasn't as prepared as I thought. It's almost as if the less prepared one is, the easier the exam appears to be, and viceversa. Starting from scratch is the best approach for a re-take. You've already passed 2, so you know what you're doing. Good luck!

    I agree with jenuno01.

Although everyone assesses their performance differently, I think preparation is the key. The more prepared I was, the more I recognized I made errors.

I passed all four sections on the first attempt

I don't think the trick is 100% mental. When you've been doing well, the testlets do get harder! When you get a ton of easy-seeming questions, it usually means you're not answering enough of them correctly!

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

    I DID IT!!!!

Well.. I thought I failed REG, but I passed.. When I left BEC I felt like crap, but then a few hours later I thought to myself.. that I think I did really good.. and I passed.. AUD I felt VERY good with the multiple choice, and SO/SO with those crazy SIM's and passed..

It really is about how prepared you are when you walk in.. You have to walk in like YOU KNOW THIS STUFF! I keep telling myself if I see dumba$$ people having their CPA.. why cant I?

    You CAN do it.

REG: PASS || BEC: PASS || AUD: PASS || F: SCORE PENDING..

You have me laugh pretty hard at the comment about the CPAs. I totally agree with it!

My first exam was FAR. Being my first exam + being probably the hardest exam of the 4, I walked out feeling like a complete idiot and hit by a train. I was so damn sad walking out that I started wondering, “ok, maybe the CPA isn't for me”. Somehow though, I ended up with an 87.

My next exam was AUD. I took this exam after having a little over 1 yr of public accounting audit experience. This helped me out tremendously. I still had to study like crazy, but I felt more confident with this exam. I walked out feeling pretty good and scored an 86. Pretty much about what I expected.

The third exam I took was BEC. I knew BEC was kinda unconnected/obscure topics so I just went into studying it with an open mind so to speak. Come test time, I felt it was a bit harder than I had anticipated, but not quite what FAR was. I walked actually feeling indifferent. I think maybe I was just sick of studying and was at a point where I didn't care anymore lol. I ended up an 86.

Last exam was REG. I put the most pressure on myself with this one b/c it was my last exam and b/c I was always afraid of taxes. I went in with more hours studied than anything else. However, the exam was a failure imo. None of the main topics I studied were tested heavily on. Lots of obscure “ancillary material” questions. I walked feeling worse than I did for FAR. I knew I did bad on MCQ given my 3rd testlet was full of one sentence question/one word answers. By God's grace, I was given an 84. This one I was more surprised than my FAR score.

So to conclude, I've felt all ranges of emotions from complete failure to confidence and it seems like the exams which are harder for you specifically, if you are feeling horrible about it after the exam, it correlates to a passing score 😀

    FAR: 87
    AUD: 86
    BEC: 86
    REG: 84! Officially Done!
