I’ve only had 6 weeks allocated to study for FAR, my 2nd attempt (suggested study time is approx. 10 weeks, or 200 hours). i earned a 57 the first time, taken 2 years ago out of college. for what it’s worth, i only studied the first 7 out of 10 chapters of FAR (less gov’t, NFP, and other misc. concepts) and had no time to review. of course, by the time i sat down for the test, i had not remembered a thing clearly from previous studies. i couldn’t even remember whether or not salvage value was taken into consideration for DDB depreciation (it isn’t, darn).

anyway, needless to say, i’ve got less than 2 weeks to study chapters 8-10 AND do a review. i do have a 2 hour round-trip commute and a regular job.

anyone been in this intense situation before on FAR? what’s your suggested plan of attack? finish the 3 chapters by end of this week, and do progress tests of 20 MCQs per chapter? skip the sims for last, if i even have time for it at all?

I have been reviewing for the last two weeks and my test is Thursday May 29, and I still don't feel 100% ready but more confident with each passing day. It's so much material, a real beast. This is my last exam to pass, and studying for this is like studying for AUD, REG and BEC combined. I'm starting to feel like Jack Nicholson from the Shining and starting to look like it according to my wife lol.

I just figured to go balls to the wall/all out for the next week and a half and then I can stop and relax, either forever or for a couple of weeks, and then take it slow for a retake in August.

You should definitely get Ninja Audio– listen to it while driving so that you can even be studying during that long commute!!!

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I read my NINJA/Wiley Focus Notes on BART while commuting to work; so no NINJA audio needed. i only watch the lecture videos, do the MCQs, and review NINJA/Focus Notes during my commute. i've never read the books for any of the parts i've passed.

@emparkhurst how long did it take you to do EVERY single MCQ from chapter 1-9? that's crazy..i feel like unless you have PLENTY of time to sit and digest the answers, you'd just be clicking around the answers, and not really having much time to digest the explanations, which should be the whole idea behind the MCQs.

we'll see how things go..i'm going to request next week off. hopefully i finish chapter 10 by end of this week so i can have 4 solid days to review.

i'm looking forward to getting this exam over and done with!!!! can't wait

That's good– the way you presented the long commute, it sounded like it was lost time.

Just do the best you can to digest it all, and don't skimp on govt and NFP if those are your last chapters. We hear those are pretty heavily tested.

    Go for it!

Cannot Pass Again needs to take FAR this cycle. Don't let a test cycle go by because before you know it you will be one of the many people on this message board who needs to pass X because Y is going to expire. Bang out the MCQs and hit the NINJA notes. Since you are way behind the 8-ball time wise, just review the NINJA notes for Gov't and hope for the best, as there is no way to properly learn Gov't and review. Just plan for a July/August exam and do the best you can in May. You never know lightning may strike.

Now I need to get back to doing my MCQs, since I take FAR in 6 days (5/24). Counting Wiley textbook and WTB, I am now around 1,900.
