Thanks! The minute I logged onto here I realized I made a mistake. From now on I will run these by you instead of posting them to associated content. I was really just testing the waters and then I noticed the article was actually doing pretty well. Maybe they will let me edit it to include a link back here.

You are right about putting in the effort and being efficient.
I am going to try your idea about trying the questions myself before Cindy shows me. She's got me spoiled.
October 16, 2010 at 2:16 am #255108tcpaParticipantThanks CPAWannabe… Good luck on your next try. I'll bet you get it. E-mail me at anexa85@gmail.com if you need any help with FAR. I may be needing your help with AUD…I didn't feel so great about that one haha…

October 18, 2010 at 2:36 am #255110tcpaParticipantSorry for the late reply! I didn't read entire chapters, but I did go back and read over anything the Yaeger instructors said to read and also anything I felt I wasn't understanding. I usually glanced over chapters before doing the MCQs and then went back to re-read any sections I was weak in.

October 18, 2010 at 2:52 am #255112MonicaFLParticipantThank you for posting that link here…I found it to be really helpful.
I did all the MC for each section this weekend in Wiley and it totally took up more time than I had. The worst thing is that in one section, because I did ALL the MC, I am now more confused than ever on some concepts!

What a great post! Your post mirrors exactly the method that I used to pass all of the exams. I needed to teach myself 2/3 of all of the material in these exams! Yaeger and your study methods worked for me. I never stressed out studying for these exams.
I too used Gleim after I finished Yaeger to find and work on my weak areas. However, I used Gleim Online, which includes Gleim Test Prep.
October 18, 2010 at 1:23 pm #255114tcpaParticipant@millerg.. that's cool, it would definitely be a matter of opinion. Have you tried Gleim yet though? I think when the two are compared Gleim comes out on top, but so my distaste for the Wiley software might just be relative to the Glei software.
@MonicaFL…Thanks! I definitely know what you mean on that. When I first started studying for FAR I would watch the lecture, try to finish all the minimum MCQs for that section, take notes, re-write notes and I realized pretty quickly at the rate I was going I was never going to get it done. I do think re-writing notes is great for remembering the material, but it might be something to save for after you complete your review program instead of after each chapter which is what I attempted at first.
Also, I felt the same way whenever I tried to do all the MCQs. It's pretty much like, great, now there are a million things I don't know. That's why I ended up changing to just doing the lectures and any MCQs on the lecture and then saving completing all the minimum MC questions for the final two to three weeks. Good luck on the studying and the CPA exam!

I have been getting stuck in Yaeger on some really easy concepts. I am totally lost on cash to accrual basis (the first SIM at the end of Module 7a).
Do you recommend that when something like this comes up where you feel like you just don't understand it for whatever reason, you should just move on? Or should I try to get help with the concept? I am worried this will be my SIM on the actual exam 🙁
I did take it to my original intermediate teacher today and she didn't even really understand why the SIM answer did the things it did on some areas. She was even confused!!
Thanks!
October 19, 2010 at 4:57 am #255116tcpaParticipant@Monica… I would mark it for review and move on depending on how much time you have left. If you can leave it for the last two weeks, I think you will be ok. If you're anything like me though, being completely confused on something is going to freak you out until you begin to understand it a bit more.
I'm looking at Module 7a here… which parts are you having trouble with? E-mail me at anexa85@gmail.com. I think I can help.

AUD- Oct. 2 REG- Feb. 2011October 19, 2010 at 9:18 am #255117ews500ParticipantI am using Yaeger HS and I won't be able to watch all the lectures by the exam date.
Does anyone have the list of questions Dr. Yaeger recommends you to do for each chapter? Please email me to ews500@yahoo.com, thank you!
October 20, 2010 at 3:15 pm #255118rmcpaParticipant@ ews500….Where exactly are you in your study and when is your exam? You mentioned that you will not be able to watch all of the lectures in time for the exam, have you gotten through governmental and non profit yet?
I just took the exam and it is very comprehensive. Make sure you definitely use the handout as suggested.

BEC 11/22/11 - Using Yaeger.....Love Cindy!October 20, 2010 at 3:24 pm #255119rmcpaParticipant@MonicaFL….I was lost as well after Phil explained the cash to acrrual basis (because he tries to explain it using the mcq's). I gained a better understanding after I went back and review the section of the chapter where you use the formula to convert from the cash to accrual basis (cash basis + additions – subtractions = accrual basis). Get a good understanding of that formula and you should be comfortable with moving on. I realized that once I came back to review the chapter, I actually did not need the formula, I was able to do the journal entry (I think it was after understanding the statement of cash flows and converting each item from accrual to cash).
It is important that you know the difference, don't be suprised if it shows up in a simulation…
I took FAR on last week and it is very comprehensive, but definitely doable…….keep moving (In the beginning, I kept getting stuck in Mod 7, you have to push yourself…it will all come together!). Also, the handout is REALLY going to help you on exam day…..and the CRAM!
