What are your thoughts on the Yaeger CPA Review course? Lectures? Textbooks? I’m trying to decide between getting updated Becker materials and going with an altogether different course like Yaeger. Thanks in advance.

I passed all 4 sections on my first attempt using Yaeger CPA Review so I definitely recommend it. Cindy is amazing by the way.

Cindy is absolutely amazing for FAR. She explains things in such a way that it makes you remember and actually makes sense. Gary was great for AUD. I haven't taken REG or BEC yet but I know Cindy teaches BEC so I can't really see how you can go wrong there.

@Jeff: Thanks for the great video. I'm new to NINJA and this forum, so please excuse my ignorance. Are the NINJA materials meant to be used in conjunction with another review course such as Becker or Yaeger or are they meant to be used alone? I know you offer the 10-point improvement package as well. Are these additional materials to join with another review program or do some folks pass just using your study materials (cards, audio, notes, etc.)???

Thanks @cpa2bFL. I appreciate the input.

@ashlienicole: Thanks for the info on Cindy and Yaeger. Did you pass FAR and AUD on your first attempts using Yaeger? Sounds like they were pretty effective for you? And his many hours (approximately) are you spending preparing for each section? Thanks again.

Ag – being a Collin Klein fan (K-State grad), I'm hesitant to help you …

    (j/k)

I believe some people retake a failed exam using only the 10 point combo … but the smarter move is to re-watch your lecture videos and use the NINJA/Wiley as supplements for max impact.

@jeff- so you mean that we should rematch our lecture videos (becker) and then don't do the MCQ and sims from becker btu use the ninja/wiley stuff for that????

I think it would be wise to use a mix of both software packages.

If you're working Bonds, for example…work 20 of 1 set and 20 of the other (Wiley)

In regards to NINJA … if you use the notes … read them every day … at work … at the doctor's office…at home when you have 5 minutes to spare (but not enough time to bust out the laptop and watch a video) … read a chapter before you go to sleep…etc.

If you have the ninja audio … listen during your commute … at the gym … etc. It's all about turning downtime into study time.

@Jeff: HA HA! I really like Klein and think he's a great person and player. All three of those Heisman finalists were outstanding people, in my opinion. It was a very good Season for both K-State and Texas A&M. I've always really liked Snyder, too. Will you help me now??? (LOL – kidding.)

Thanks for the info. I am curious as to which of your NINJA materials I should purchase to supplement my Becker/Yaeger course with. Notecards? Audio? Notes? What do you suggest? I know you mentioned you thought maybe the Wiley test bank software would be beneficial. Any advice you can provide will always be greatly appreciated. (Please don't use Johnny Football against me. LOL). All kidding aside, thanks very much.

I have seven weeks for FAR, do you recommend watching the lectures from the homestudy, or are the cram videos ok? I heard that they just go over more questions in the homestudy.

@Jeff: Thanks for the link. I do like – Especially the notecards. Those are pretty sweet.

@75: Which study course? Wiley, maybe?

One more vote of confidence for Yaeger over here. So far I am 3 for 3 with Yaeger supplemented with NINJA Notes.

    NINJA Notes Rock!!!

I think Yaeger + NINJA is a good study plan… At least it's been working for me.

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

Thanks to everyone for the responses. It's looking like about a pretty even 50/50 split on those who are pushing Becker versus those who are pushing Yaeger.. I'm still not sure which I'm going to go with, but I need to make a decision at this point and just go HARD with one or the other. I do know that I will be purchasing some NINJA Notes and maybe also some NINJA Audio and/or Flashcards.

I'm in the same boat Ag.

I'll begin studying for the CPA exam around April of next year and I've been torn between the two.

My uncle, who's been a CPA for more than 28 years, used Becker. Almost all of my upper level accounting class professors to Becker. Some of my friends that passed the CPA exam also took Becker.

Me personally, I'm going to use Yaeger. I've watched hours of the videos and I love them. I think they go more into depth about each topic and thats what I need. I'm a more hands-on type of person and I want to know how, but also why when I work these problems.

I used Yeager for all 4 parts of the exam. I also supplemented with Wiley test bank, Wiley focus notes as well as Ninja notes. Overall, I was very pleased with Yeager. I passed FAR, REG, and AUD on my first attempt. I had to take BEC twice but this was my first exam and I had anxiety which caused me to fall a little short of a passing score the first time.

I have been out of school for 15 years and absolutely knew that I needed a strong review course to help me prepare. I would highly recommend Yeager. They explain the concepts and then do multiple choice and TBS to reinforce the concepts. If you supplement this with the Wiley products you should do just fine.
