Yaeger – Assigned MC Questions Only?

Is it realistic to only study the MC questions in the book that Yaeger assigns? I feel like I am kind of memorizing those particular problems, and I have no way of checking my progress. I’m sure the problems will eventually stick, but if one thing is changed, I don’t know if I would be able to come up with an answer.

Did anyone pass (FAR) using only yaeger lectures and the assigned MC questions in the book?

I used Yaeger Home Study and listened to all of the lectures straight through taking EXTENSIVE notes on everything. Then I went through and did the assigned multiple choice ONCE and, again, took EXTENSIVE notes on those questions. Finally, I used the Wiley software and did 30 question multiple choice testlets to practice. In all honesty, I didn't think this method would work, but it improve my score on the exam from a 69 to a 78.

I passed FAR (barely) by using Yaeger CRAM and doing only the MC's recommended. I took copious notes though and reviewed my notes extensively. I was also relying on my several years of public accounting experience. I took the crash course in studying >< I wouldn't recommend it. If you have time, go through the questions for sections you're weak on and have a very good understanding of the concepts. Don't just barely know it because those exam questions are tricky.

For REG, I failed using Becker, then I used the homestudy and did the MC's recommended twice…barely passed as well – but tax is my weaker side.

I stop the Yaeger DVD and I answer the multiple choice questions in the Wiley book BEFORE Yaeger explains the answers. I also take notes on the multiple choice questions that I missed. After I finish the Yaeger DVDs, I answer ALL of the multiple choice questions in the Wiley book. I also use Gleim Test Prep to obtain more multiple choice questions on my weak areas. A week before my exam I answer ALL of the multiple choice questions in “CPA Review for Free.”

I hope this helps. I passed REG, FAR and BEC the first time using Yaeger.

Perfection is the enemy of good enough. 75 is good enough. 76 means that you studied too much. A CPA is a CPA.
