As I’ve heard FAR is the most difficult exam due to the pure mass of material, I was wondering if anyone can toss some tips out???

I’m using Wiley with the Yaeger Home Study…has anyone used Yaeger for FAR, did you pass, any specific studying tips you can divulge?

    Thanks

    Hi

I am also writing FAR in May, using Becker's review, this is my last section, I have also heard stories of FAR, now afraid, whether 70 days would be enough to pass FAR, I have already started studies and I am on the 3rd chapter, I can put about 200 hours of studies with my full time working.

rycpa, good luck for your studies

    BEC ,REG, AUD - Passed
    FAR- Feb 11- 77 Passed
    Finally Done
    Ethics- 95

I'm not trying to pick on anyone's dialect but where does the term “writing” an exam come from? What region do you guys live in? Anytime I've ever heard anyone talk about the CPA exam they either say “I'm taking the CPA exam” or “I'm sitting for the CPA exam” but I've never heard it phrased like “I'm writing the CPA exam”.

Sorry for getting the thread off track but I just thought that was interesting and have never heard that before!

    FAR: 81 (1/20) AUD: 88 (2/27) REG: 91 (4/19) BEC: 75 (5/20)

I'm neck-deep in my FAR preparations (hopefully my last section depending on BEC score). I'm hitting my head against the wall on much of it similar to how I was on BEC-3 & BEC-5. It is incredibly frustrating. With the fast class schedule I don't exactly have time to stop and regroup though. I'll manage. A day or two off work will hopefully catch me up assuming I can keep up with this week's materials. It is painful & frustrating, but hopefully almost over. I started this process 5 months ago and am still hoping to sit for FAR on April 15th.

I've seen the “writing for the exam” before but I'm not sure where that comes from (British perhaps?).

actually you must mean that you are taking it not writing it……you have to be a CPA before you can help write it…..

Working Hard – I went through all the MCs 4-5 times (only making 60s and 70s) when I took FAR in Jan and made a 71. I have been re-studying and am on round 2 and have brought my scores up to 80s and 90s for the most part (a few stray 70s). In my opinion, it's so much material, you just have to read the question VERY carefully and work them over, and over, and over again. You'll get there.

    AUD 95 (3/5/10); BEC 83 (5/28/10); FAR 71, 72, 74, 82 (10/16/10); REG 65,80(11/23/10)
    ALL DONE 🙂

Yes, read the questions carefully. I thought my FAR exam was so much easier than the Becker homework questions, and I was in such a rush to finish the entire exam, I'm sure I didn't read the questions very thoroughly. It obviously costs me at least the 6 points I needed to pass.
