For the people who did well to just say they did well instead of whining on this board for a whole month about how they failed and then score high 80’s or 90’s…

To score in the 80’s you need to show a strong level of knowledge on the whole exam basically. In the 90’s you need to only literally get a few questions wrong…

I know because I counted exactly(+- error adjustment) how many questions I got wrong on the multiple when I got 80 on BEC(12-14 wrong on the MC) and 85 on AUD(8-10 wrong on the MC). That is, I didn’t somehow have ”CRAZY” testlets and the ”OMG IM GONNA FAIL” feeling…

All I’m saying is, there are some people who really struggle and work their butts off to pass, and your whining for months about how you thought you were gonna fail only to score 99 really doesn’t help. Lots of people come here for comfort and support. I have nothing but love and respect for so many members on here, but there’s quite a few of you whiners and attention toots that I can’t stand. You know yourselves well so I won’t say any names. Funny thing is I knew a lot of people like you back in highschool (which was only a few years ago so my memory is still intact) and you were the kind of people who had no friends(or ironically, the highest number of fake friends). Just say you did well, and score well, and people would have nothing but well wishes for you.

Not trying to stir any trouble Jeff, just being real.

I walked out of BEC called my boss and said “I'll be taking that one again.” I got an 82. I walked out of FAR called my boss and said “I feel better about that test than I have ever felt.” Big ole 73. Who can really tell? I know I can't!

The whole counting the number of questions right/wrong is dumb. I scored well on BEC and FAR yet I'm sure I got more than just “a few questions wrong”. It's all about the difficulty of questions you receive, and even then you don't really know the difficulty of your testlets. I definitely knew my BEC testlets were getting harder, but that wasn't the same for far. Granted, I did think I passed coming out of the exam. I just didn't think that I did as well as I ended up doing.

Yeah…a lot of people (me) can't tell how they did. So they aren't trying to rub it in your faces when they say that ;), they actually think they may have failed. Like other have said, the adaptive nature of the test, tricky questions, and throw out questions all factor in. Not to mention the SIMS and written communication questions.

For BEC, I felt like it coulda gone either way. Got a score in the high 80's. That was with several educated guesses and some, essentially, complety random ones. It's possible all my educated guesses were right and my random guesses were throw out questions and I got 100's on my WC and I didn't make any stupid mistakes elsewhere, but you never really know.

For REG, I feel like I failed but have SLIM amounts of hope due to my suprisingly decent score with the prior exam. With that said, I would not be suprised at all if I got a 60 or lower. Don't be mad at me if I get an 80 though (I won't!).

    REG - Passed!!
    BEC - Passed
    FAR - Passed
    AUD - Passed

“In the 90's you need to only literally get a few questions wrong…”

That's not necessarily true. There is one member of another CPA forum (a well-respected member, I might add) that scored a 99 on FAR and knew he got a few questions wrong on the MCQs because he looked them up after his test and confirmed it. He still ended up with a 99. The CPA exam does not take off point for wrong answers. You GAIN points with a correct answer. The number of points you gain from a correct answer all depends on the difficulty of the question. And also, don't forget about the pre-test questions as well, which are worth nothing. There are about 12-15 pretest MCQs per exam. So, if you can jump for joy that you got 15 MCQs correct, but if they happen to be pretest, then sorry, you didn't gain any points for those.

Let me use a simple example:

    Candidate #1:

    Q1 (pretest): correct

    Q2 (pretest): correct

    Q3 (1 point): correct

    Q4 (2 points): wrong

    Q5 (2 points): wrong

    Candidate #2:

    Q1 (pretest): wrong

    Q2 (pretest): wrong

    Q3 (1 point): wrong

    Q4 (2 points): correct

    Q5 (2 points): correct

Let's say 3 points is a 75. Well, Candidate #1 feels great. He knew he got three questions right. So, he feels so sure he passed. Nope, he only accumulated 1 point. So, he failed miserably. Candidate #2 feels miserable. He only knew two of the questions. But guess what? He did much better than Candidate #1. He accumulated 4 points and will score above a 75 since he went over the 3 points.

Now, that's just a simple example of how the CPA exam is scored and why each candidate feels differently and get different results. This is not your everyday College exam. This is graded completely differently.
