Why is it so hard?

For the people who did well to just say they did well instead of whining on this board for a whole month about how they failed and then score high 80’s or 90’s…

To score in the 80’s you need to show a strong level of knowledge on the whole exam basically. In the 90’s you need to only literally get a few questions wrong…

I know because I counted exactly(+- error adjustment) how many questions I got wrong on the multiple when I got 80 on BEC(12-14 wrong on the MC) and 85 on AUD(8-10 wrong on the MC). That is, I didn’t somehow have ”CRAZY” testlets and the ”OMG IM GONNA FAIL” feeling…

All I’m saying is, there are some people who really struggle and work their butts off to pass, and your whining for months about how you thought you were gonna fail only to score 99 really doesn’t help. Lots of people come here for comfort and support. I have nothing but love and respect for so many members on here, but there’s quite a few of you whiners and attention toots that I can’t stand. You know yourselves well so I won’t say any names. Funny thing is I knew a lot of people like you back in highschool (which was only a few years ago so my memory is still intact) and you were the kind of people who had no friends(or ironically, the highest number of fake friends). Just say you did well, and score well, and people would have nothing but well wishes for you.

Not trying to stir any trouble Jeff, just being real.

Okay my thing about this is the fact that these exams are very different than college tests where everyone hates those people who consistently get 95's and when asked how they did on the recent exam are all like “OMG I failed” only to ace it. You may feel that it's the same thing, but these exams are designed to be adaptive to how well you're doing not to mention the odds are against you. In my recent BEC stint, I was not really sure I pulled it off because I felt that I had not been given the opportunity to show what I knew and struggled through the test. The question becomes “Is the test hard?” or “Am I not as prepared as I'd like to be?”. I ended up doing really well, but in the process gave myself a few gray hairs thinking I genuinely didn't pass. What I'm saying is that different people have different perceptions and your confidence in yourself doesn't necessarily warrant the right to discredit how others felt. Live and let live bro.

I think it's better to expect the worse and hope for the best with these exams. I've had times where I walked out feeling like there was no way I could've failed, just to find out I had bombed and viceversa. I do agree there could be less whining though, I usually skip those posts and take a Napuela instead, maybe you should do the same?

Lets be honest nobody knows walking out of there how they did. I don't think very many people believe they did well but claim not to have done well just to be coy.

I've walked out of there CONVINCED I nailed an exam, and ended up with a 71. I would have bet money I was in the 80's.

And I've walked out distraught that I blew it, and ended up with an 84.

So heres the thing, lets not be judgemental. Nobody leaves the exam knowing for SURE what their score is, and frankly candidates don't have enough time to worry if someone else claims they failed but ended up doing well.

I used to try and gauge how well/how poor I did when I left the exam, but Ive come to realize that all it does is stress me out. I lose focus on the section Im studying for while waiting for the score, lose sleep, am and more irritable. Let the AICPA grade your exam like they are supposed to and move on. If you dont pass, then study harder/differently and try again.

@cpatime – could not agree more. It's quite frustrating to see all the people who walked out thinking they bombed the exam, only to get a score in the 90s. If you knew the material as well as you have to in order to score in the 90s, then you're lying if you thought you bombed it.

It gives too much false hope on what the curve is like and makes those that busted their butts and failed feel even worse.

@ Cashmoney , it is quite interesting to see you ‘lol' at what I had to say. You of all people should know exactly what I was saying. I mean, surely you felt the difference in your performance when you walked out of the 91 AUD and the 74/73, and yet I didn't see you on here crying about how you failed.

@ pretty much everyone else, I laughed when I saw the people who commented on here. I wasn't attacking you, don't worry, I have bigger worries in life, I was just offering friendly advice to help you become more likable in real life.

@ givemesleep . Alright buddy, I really want to give you a list of things that go on in my life besides ‘video games' but I don't want you to hate your life so I'll swallow my pride.

I think it's frustrating for someone who has failed (using myself as an example) to see others “whine” that they think they didn't pass and then end up with scores in the 90s. But I think I understand where they are coming from. I think the more you know the material and the more you practice, the more you are AWARE of what can go wrong and the types of tricks the examiners can use to leave you so unsure.

I think it's the weighted grading system that really screws people up. Plus the pretest questions. Anyone could be sure of the scores were a simple percentage calculation but it's not. Also, the people getting in the 90s are getting more difficult questions. So they could feel like they are getting more questions wrong, yet they are weighted heavier.

Unfortunately, I've taken this exam enough to have a pretty good idea of how I scored. But for those who have taken a section only once, I can see where they might freak out.

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

When anyone else read this title, did they think “that's what she said?” I was hoping that was what the opening post was about because I would have rather had a laugh instead of listening to that garbage haha

Well, the first time I took REG I got a 53. I KNEW I had bombed it. I knew going in that I was going to do terribly, barring a miracle.

The second time I took REG, I got a 91. I knew going in that I was fairly well prepared. However, I was not lying when I came out uncertain of whether or not I had passed.

In my experience, when you do well, the multiple choice questions get insanely hard. Like nothing I had seen in Becker. At that point I wasn't sure if I didn't know the answers because I had skipped over reviewing a section, if they were pre-test, or if they were hard because I was doing well. And since I had failed FAR and REG already, I thought it was pretty foolish to expect that I was going to blow a section out of the water. I came out of REG the second time thinking I had made between a 70 and an 80.

There is so much uncertainty when it comes to this thing that even people who end up doing very well sometimes don't know if they've passed or not, including me. Just my 2 cents.

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93
