I have send this email to Michigan BOA. I am sure I would not be getting any responses soon or may not get any at all. I was wondering if I can get help here. Thanks

    To whom it may concern:

    Subject: CPA License Experience Requirement

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I have just passed all the four sections of the CPA exam from MASS. However, I want to apply for the license from Michigan. I do satisfy all the requirements for the licensure except the experience part which I am not sure of. I have been working as a staff account for 3 years now and I do fall under ~18 categories that the statue lists. But my question is does this work has to verified by an active CPA or has to be under the direct supervision of an active CPA. Please do not direct me to read the statue on your website since I have done it many times and I am having a hard time to interpret it. I have found different information in different websites and I am looking for an accurate answer. Here are my Questions:

    1. Can my work experience form be verified by a CPA who does not work with me in my company?

    2. Does that CPA need to have an active license?

My problem is, my manager is a CPA but his license is not active. Can he sign off my experience form?

Any help in this regards would be appreciated. Thanks

I think everyone that lives in Michigan has the same confusion on this topic and the reason why is that Michigan hasn't even figured it out yet. From what my professor told me the experience doesn't have to be supervised but it does have to be verified by an ACTIVE CPA. Hope this is accurate, I haven't read anything different so I think it is…..let us know what you find out!
