While I wait….what should I do?

Still waiting for approval, which most likely will not come for another week at least (plus time to obtain payment coupon and NTS from NASBA).

What should I do in these couple of weeks before I can sit for FAR?

Keep studying FAR or start studying REG?

I’m done with Becker for FAR, did F1-F7 twice (including HW MCQs and supplemental) and F8-F9 once.

I can do another round of MCQs….but I’d rather start studying for REG so I could sit for it shortly after I take FAR….

Has anybody ever studied for two sections at the same time? Does it really mess you up?

I just feel like I’m wasting a couple of weeks because of burocracy.

Originally I planned to take all four sections in July and August, but since July is basically wasted, that plan got disrupted…

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

I am a big fan of the one section at a time and sit for it before moving on. There were people in my Becker live class that studied for two and then sat though and did ok. If you do decide to start on REG, consider starting with the law and ethics stuff so you don't get you mind confused with tax rules and calculations.

I would just keep studying FAR so it's fresh when you sit. You can do MC qs from cpareviewforfree.com, I hear they have good questions. But if you are sure you got FAR down, Becker recommends studying for AUD right after FAR because AUD application questions are based on FAR.

    Really? Didn't catch that.

    I'll study for AUD then.

Make the effort for FAR 100, how would you rate the effort for other sections?

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

I'm taking live becker classes in the dc area, so that's what my profs told us. Far will be my first section (this friday) so i can't really tell, but from what i heard, study time for Aud is 1/3 of FARs so you should be ok studying for AUD & FAR at the same time. Plus, FAR is about 5 college classes and AUD is only 1 plus zero calculations. I too was planning to sit for all 4 sections this summer but then decided I couldn't do it so I'm shooting for 3.

It took me about three weeks (net of two long weekends that I took off) to go over it twice. But I study full time.

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

if you are taking becker chapter F1 & F2, oh yes those have a lot of volume. the rest of the chapters should go quicker (in comparison) unless you have trouble grasping some concepts (example: bonds, leases, stmt cash flows… whoa!)

If you are studying full time and you made it through the FAR material in 3 weeks then you should be able to make it through AUD w/ a great review in 2 weeks.

If I were to rate FAR at 100 I would rate AUD at 50

    AUD - 81, BEC - 74, 80, FAR - 82, REG - 81
    Done!

I have been dragging F8 and F9 for almost a week, maybe because I was distracted by the struggle I'm having with the CBA (I know I'm not sitting for at least 2 weeks, so perhaps I wasn't pressured enough), but definitely also because I wasn't as familiar with those subjects as I am with the for-profit FAR subjects.

On top of that, I scored much lower in the MCQs of F8 and F9 (mid to high 70s) comparing to F1-F7 (high 80s, low 90s usually).

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

    Financeguy:

Plus, if I finally get approved, I will be able to set a calendar with dates down and once you have a date set, then you are more pressured to study.

I mean, if I have to study tonight and I know I'm not sitting for a couple of weeks, I'd probably watch Sportscenter. And you bet that this weekend I'll go to the beach.

I wouldn't go to the beach if I had a test scheduled for next week….

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

italianCPA wish I had that option, I usually do my studies late in the night after work…Put in about 3 to 4 hours, but its encouraging to read that the other chapters tend to go alot faster. I think am pretty comfortable with understanding the first two chapters well enough to pass any question asked. But again one can never tell what kind of trickery the examiners may be up to 🙂

    italianCPA,

Have you looked at prometric to see what dates are available. I would at least get a hold on that so i could begin to plan once the approval is in your hand. You may have to drive far because it is taking so long to get approval. I had to schedule on two sundays this testing window because i was cash strapped, but i am glad that it is on a weekend. But it sucks that i have to go to downtown chicago. I will be taking public transportation because parking is ridiculous!

    IL - BECKER=============> DONE
    REG - 80; FAR - 65,79; AUD - 53,78; BEC - 71,68, 75 (used becker and yaeger for 3rd BEC)Ethics 95

I'M GONNA CELEBRATE AND LIVE MY LIFE SAYING AYE OH BABY LETS GO!!!!!
