I failed FAR once before and studying for it was the most torturous thing i have ever done in my life. I have not taken REG yet. I heard that it is baaaad. Which one do you think is worse: regulation or financial accounting?

To me REG is way, way worse than FAR but then again I'm not in the least a tax person. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to anything tax related. lol

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

FAR is the worst for studying, but for the actual exam, OMG, REG is the hardest to me.

@atelery – that's what i heard: that the actual REG exam is harder even though you prepare it for it. Sigh… looking forward to studying for it 🙁

Reg was not bad at all.

REG was more difficult for me. I loath phase outs, contracts, and nit-picky laws. I at least found FAR interesting. Some of the FAR concepts were more difficult to grasp, but I think that the actual TEST for REG is more difficult than the FAR test. Hand made note cards, CPAexcel, and the Ninja notes were my best friends for REG.

REG to me, by far was the most difficult. I barely passed FAR but it really was not that bad. I think FAR has a huge curve.

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

    BEC: 87 (7/13/11)

    REG: 88 (11/30/11)

Used Becker for all four parts. Supplemented it with Wiley Test Bank for FAR and REG (HIGHLY recommended) and NINJA notes.

REG has the lowest pass rate out of all sections this year. It's really bad. I had straight As in college through my masters. Passed AUD and FAR but was really low with REG.

However, it could be okay if you have more experience in this area. I know candidates who work at CPA firms who have experience with taxation. They had to focus more on the law. They seem to do better. Guess experience is the biggest asset to get through this section.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD
