When will it click?

Sooooo, I’ve been reading my review book for FAR and I’ll admit a lot of the information is sticking or at least making more sense. However, A LOT of it is NOT sticking. Is this the normal course of action? Will it eventually all come together? I still have about 9 days left to read the book before I begin my 3 week long review. I’m hoping the MCQs and rewriting of the notes during that 3 week period will help me.

I'm tired of operating in fear and mediocrity. It's time to try. It's time to do. It's time to go.

    Hi Born to Win-

I am in a similar situation as you with FAR ( although I am in my very early stages of studying for FAR with a test date of 12/2). Some stuff I feel like I know already and other stuff is just not sticking. This is too early to be confused! 🙂
Just like you this is not my first rodeo and I tend to notice I don't get the clearest picture until I hit MCQ (particularly NINJA). Of course this is my observation with REG and AUD but I remain hopeful.

FAR was way out of my spectrum. If I thought about it , it would be overwhelming. One step at a time. I finally got traction with Ninja MCQ and notes. About 200 questions in I knew I was on a track. It took 700 questions to start getting to a change in learning curve. It took over 1200 questions to get to the point where I was ready. And that was barely.

I am about 3 more sections from finishing and everything was starting to click as of last week. Then today I got to Stockholders equity and a lot of it went out the window. Hoping it comes back together by the end of the week… that being said I also know there are a lot loose ends I need to tie up before game day. I have a week/week and a half allocated for review. Hoping its enough…

felt that way with every test except audit, I'm sure because I have a background in auditing. It would click for me when I would start the review process. Even a day or two before the exam things would make so much more sense. I don't know if it's desperation, adrenaline, or just knowledge but that's what happens. I wonder why it doesn't happen sooner. ah, the mysteries of the CPA.

Thanks to all of you for your responses! It seems that the going consensus is that the review will bring it full circle (for the most part). I'm giving myself a hard deadline of 3 weeks for review, unless I finish reading the book and note taking before Oct 6th (then I'll just have more time). There's so much material that you'd almost feel a little silly if you didn't question if your study efforts were properly aligned.

I feel the same way. I am just about halfway through my review materials and still scoring low on the MCQs I am incorporating into my review, and not remembering much of what I am studying. I will be done Oct 28 with the review, and then have until Nov 22 (test date) to do a full review with MCQs and sims, and I am really hoping everything starts to stick during the last 3ish weeks of my review. I don't feel confident at all with FAR right now. My biggest issue seems to be really comprehending the question and what they are really asking for. When I review why I got something wrong then I think how stupid I was for not getting it to begin with… Anyways, Good luck!

I had cram courses through Rogers (like a review) and it wasnt until I took the crams until I truly felt comfortable with the majority of the material – except audit, I was ready for audit after my first run through it.

Things will start to come together and click during your final review. Just make sure during your review that you keep things in perspective. Ask yourself, what are the most important topics from each chapter / must know items? Focus on that stuff.

Also – I speak from experience, do not skip anything. Knowing something about a topic is a heck of a lot better than knowing nothing. Good luck!

Somehow they all just started to click for me after a month, except for FAR. I still think they scored that test wrong for me, but I'm not complaining!
