What's your reason for not giving up? - Page 3

Nobody likes this exam, especially the drawn out process. However, you fail when you stop trying, not when you have given it your all and pick yourself back up over and over again.

I want to make a thread of our reasons why we aren’t giving in – as a reminder to ourselves and each other that we are all successful for even coming this far in our careers.

    For me personally,

    – I made this promise to myself and my family and friends have my word. Quitting would break my heart and theirs too.

    – I really, really, really am looking forward to the relief when I see my passing score.

    – Not taking the exam would mean potentially losing my job…and I’m no loser.

    – I have to prove this to myself. I was always a B/C accounting student and there were times where I thought I wasn’t smart enough and wanted to change my major…but I didn’t. If I give up I am just telling myself that I am not smart enough for this. I have never a typical accounting student, or extremely interested in it, but I am smart enough to make myself into one.

id rather have my cpa than feel like a clownshoe when i have to explain to people why i am an accountant but not a cpa. luckily im done with all four parts, so now i can act like a braggart when i tell people i passed all four parts. its all very vain, but deep down inside, everyone can relate.

    More $$$$

    Better career opportunity

Prove to myself that I can do anything if I put my heart and soul into it

Set an example to my teenage kids and let them know that giving up is not an option

This forum is awesome for me (and lot of other cpa candidates) who at times feel so low and demotivated and coming here and reading stories of other people who are in the same boat, gives the feeling that I am not alone in this journey. Thanks Jeff…Happy Birthday…:)

    AUD – Pass Oct'11

    FAR – Pass Nov'11

Those are respectable scores. Anything worth having is hard. If it were easy everyone would do it. I am struggling with FAR and REG a lot. I have never been a particularly talented person or very naturally smart. Because of that I have dealt with ‘failing' but keep in mind that victory is sweeter for those that have tasted the sourness of failing. Also, failure will never overcome you if your determination to succeed is strong enough.
