What's your reason for not giving up? - Page 2

Nobody likes this exam, especially the drawn out process. However, you fail when you stop trying, not when you have given it your all and pick yourself back up over and over again.

I want to make a thread of our reasons why we aren’t giving in – as a reminder to ourselves and each other that we are all successful for even coming this far in our careers.

    For me personally,

    – I made this promise to myself and my family and friends have my word. Quitting would break my heart and theirs too.

    – I really, really, really am looking forward to the relief when I see my passing score.

    – Not taking the exam would mean potentially losing my job…and I’m no loser.

    – I have to prove this to myself. I was always a B/C accounting student and there were times where I thought I wasn’t smart enough and wanted to change my major…but I didn’t. If I give up I am just telling myself that I am not smart enough for this. I have never a typical accounting student, or extremely interested in it, but I am smart enough to make myself into one.

    1. I must love abuse. It's almost 3 a.m. and I'm studying FAR.

    2. Can't think of a 2nd reason. It must be for the love of accounting. The job market is crap and there don't appear to be any other benefits of passing atm.

After failing Reg and BEC by one point the last 4 attempts I was ready to consider giving up on the dream. Then I received my scores today and now it's all over!! The feeling of accomplishment is beyond words and when you receive that final passing score it's all worth it!

I want to use Kricket's reason about her aunt too! Also, to prove to myself that I can accomplish this and I am not a quitter. And to give my Dad bragging rights on the golf course…haha. I know he is already proud so I try not to confuse passing the CPA will make him proud, I just want to complete this because he has always supported me and dragged me to the finish line even when I did everything to self destruct. I want to finish this and thank him for always being here for me. Ok enough sappy, back to studying!

1.) I wanted to prove to my son that giving up isn't an option.

2.) If I ever become a stay at home mom I can get back in the workforce more easily.

3.) I proved to myself that I could do anything I set my mind to.

4.) I wanted three letter behind my name too…not just the three in front “Mrs.”

5.) If my husband could do it…so could I!!!!

6.) I'm bat-shit crazy and love the abuse of the exam

7.) Lends credibility to anything I say…lol. Even if I have no idea what I'm talking about they will say “well she is a CPA, she must know what she is talking about.”

    1. My kids–our house motto is NEVER QUIT. Whatever in life, NEVER QUIT. The kids see me studying to the point where I hardly can hold my head up, sometimes it's all I can say is NEVER QUIT. 😀

    2. This test is the only thing in my life that I have ever attempted and failed at—well except for perhaps marrying Salma Hayek. I even went and passed the EA exam to make me feel better about having failed this one previous. It's eating at my soul.

    3. The fact that everyone I know is aware and watching my results. Telling people you failed SUCKS.

    4. Even though I am not competitive per se, if I pass according to my schedule, I will have fast tracked this exam faster than anyone else in company history….at least our Division.

    5. Hitting that F5 refresh button and seeing a passing grade is almost intoxicating. Not too many other things give you that electric buzz in your belly. It's great at work when you can't yell and scream like you want to. Quiet dance time.

    6. I hear CPA's get lots of action with the ladies. We'll see! 😀

Well before anyone followes my #6, please do note that I also fell for my wife's #7 point….

#7 You get the big snip snip instead of me having to get my tubes tied, we will have more ‘action' than ever before. 😀

    So I am a bit gullible! 😀

After reading Tina82's post about the necklace with a big gold “CPA” pendant on it, I'd like to add that to my list.

…or at least a gold and diamond encrusted pimp cup like lil' john's that would read “CPA” instead of “Crunk Juice”. yeeaaaaaaaahhhhhh!

    1. Prove to my family (extended) that I am not lazy or stupid.

    2. Better salary

    3. To prove to myself that I can do it.
