With AUD, my strategy was mostly memorization. For BEC, my strategy was mostly learning the concepts.

I am two weeks into reviewing the FAR material and I cannot seem to lay down a real good strategy… Can someone please suggest what worked for you?

    Thanks

It's simple. Do as many problems you can get your hands on. Focus on the BIG concepts (Revenue/Expense recognition, Financial Statements, Consolidate/investments,LTD, Leases, etc and don't sweat with the small stuff.

I agree with Jack Don. Practice practice practice MC and SIMS using Wiley, Becker and/or some other vendor. That's the best way to learn the materials (assuming you are understanding the answers rather than memorizing), as well as reviewing the wrong answers too. I found that reviewing the wrong answers and why they were wrong sometimes showed information not found in the right answer solution. Anyway, I am much more of a hand's-on learner, and for FAR, I think that will go far (no pun intended). Also, try to buy the Wiley Focus Notes for FAR. I found them an excellent review of all of the concepts and key terms. And don't forget about non-profit and government accounting. It seems like it wont' be as prioritized as much as the corporate stuff, but it is. Please do not ignore or take these sections lightly. They are tested extensively. You will do fine. I actually found FAR more manageable than AUD, but to each his own. We have our own strengths and weaknesses. And quite frankly, I find BEC really easy, but a lot of folks struggle with it. I am sure they laugh at me for AUD too, so it's all relative. Also, have some fun with FAR. It's really good material to apply to daily work. Don't forget to enjoy yourself a bit too. Getting too stressed out or bogged down may decrease your chances to pass. Enjoy!

@jackdon, what you mentioned is interesting because that'sthe approach I have been taking these last few days. I am starting to skip through the very small stuff.

@Joey J, thanks for that detail feedback and thanks for reminding me just to have fun. Thats the approach I took with AUD & BEC, and that's what I have been missing with FAR so far….Okay whoosah mindset changed….

I'll also take your advice and focus on the areas you listed. Everyone seems to agree Governmental is tested extensively.

@rknight21 I didn't mean skip it I just meant review it once, write it down so you don't forget and move on.

Well I wouldn't really skip anything but as we all know some questions in becker are repetitive. Only the numbers are changed. In the cases of those less complicated questions I am skipping through the easy ones after seeing them once or twice

Guys I am also strugglIng with the same problem..Don't know how to deal with this FARE…

Can you please answer my question, I am using Becker exclusively for studying, and in passmaster i am getting in between 40 to 60s. What should i do, i just stick there untill i get above 80 or 90 at a same time? Or move on with next topic and rework them once i am done with 1 time studying whole book cover to cover? Right now i am on F6 and have moved on for all prior chapters even if i get low score…I thought let me finish all 9 at a time than at the end just keep practicing Mcqs and Sims on repetitive basis..its okay or just don't move from topic untill i score above 80s or 90s?

What you all think about this? Please help me with some advice….

    Many thanks in advance…

all the best to all studying for CPA

    FAR: You are down...
    Aud: Surprised me...Thanks

Still waiting to see how i did. But i studied the concept for far for 2 days each chapter. Then did all the HW questions. Any questions I got wrong in Becker i printed out with the examples and reviewed those religiously till me exam. Reviewed all journal entries and made flash cards for IFRS vs. GAAP.

ohh and did as many problems as i could do.

    @Noone

mark all the questions you get wrong the first time and print them out. Make packets and study the HW questions till you understand them.

    BEC: 82
    FAR: 79
    AUD: 85
    REG: July 10th

I am just starting my FAR studying, I test in 5 weeks. I have taken this section before and it is the one I hate the most, there is just so much material. I do like the Government and Not For Profit sections though. I am using Gleim and Wiley online, my focus this time is just to do as many MCQ's as possible, between the two there is almost 5000 MCQ available for me to work. I am making flash card notes while I do the questions so I can take my flashcards everywhere with me and just re-read them over and over and over again. FAR really is my Beast..I am hoping with enough effort I can move past it once and for all.

I went through all the chapters first & did the class questions as they came up. Once I finished the chapters I started doing the homework questions and plan to do as many as I can between now & exam day. I've seen a few of the bloggers mention re-writing their notes, which I was originally planning to try with this exam (I haven't in the past), but at this point I think my time might be best spent just practicing questions over & over.

    Good luck with your studying!!

    AUD - 89
    REG - 79
    FAR - 82
    BEC - 84
