My advice is to go to this website and download the Content Specific Outline. You can see what each % of each exam is from which topics. I think this is in Jeff's book “50 Things You Need to Know About the CPA Exam”. Believe me it will help you plan your study schedule.

don't bother looking at the CSO, its not accurate at all

just learn as much of it as you can

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂

@goodluck – we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one! Granted every test is different but those are the topics that are tested. They may not all show up on a single exam but all exams are based on that outline.

The CSO was spot on for all four of my tests. Definitely utilize it and study accordingly.

    Get my audio.

If it's not for you, I'll give you your $$ back.

    BLaw is 40%.

Jeff – how are you getting to 40%? CSO says 17-21%. Does the 40% include some other topic that is b-law but not describing b-law as such in the CSO? Confused.

    R - 74;88
    A - 84
    B - 74;89
    F - no study = 67; May 15 = 87 & done

Sorry – yeah I was lumping everything non-tax as BLaw.

    BLaw…ethics…agency…BK…commercial paper… Secured transactions…etc.

B-law is important, don't underestimate it. That being said, every exam is different….you may have lot of b-law, while some may not be tested on it as much.

If you are using REG, read the each chapter x2 and do its MCQs couple times….make sure you understand it, don't just do it for sake of doing it. Read the ethics/legal responsibility until you understand it!

If you do all that, you should be fine!!

What helped me get over the gray barrier for B-Law was making my own flashcards. I didn't do that for the other sections but for B-Law it helps. Also, try explaining what you learned….

    Read a few pages…..do a few problems…..make a flashcard….

    Read a few pages…..do a few problems…..make a flashcard….

B-law is the one part of the exam that I think is simply a matter of exposure to terminology…..it could be the easiest or the hardest.

I haven't passed yet though, but I had this problem last week. My exam is in two weeks, but I may not pass….I'm a little behind in my studies because I've been setting up some web domains. Sad thing is, I don't make money off them but I like designing them and it was a latent skill that I recently picked up. It's a good combination with this CPA stuff…and I can't find a job anyways, so I might as well develop some web property no?

    Plus….minus…whatever…I'm rambling.

    Good luck!

Not sure why people like to ask which topics are heavily tested. Each exam is different. One person may get a lot of question on Negotiable Instruments and another person may not get any at all. The questions are random. Be prepared for anything….

    Be careful with exam disclosures….
