Hey everybody, long time lurker, first time poster. Not sure this has been addressed before, but just a quick question on what I can bring for my October FAR test. My friend mentioned he brought a calculator which worked much better than what the test center provided. Does anyone know what the approved models are? Specifically can I bring an HP12C for time value of money problems? Prometric and NASBA have not responded to messages so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What?! when did your friend take the exam? You can't bring anything into the test center, not even your wallet.

The only thing you can bring in with you are the clothes and shoes on your person, your id, the laminated boards, and the provided markers.

I took off the sweater I had on once and was told I either had to put it back on or put it in the locker outside. That is how strict they are.

I was shaken down at prometric about wearing my wedding bands and e-ring, so trust me you are are not getting to bring in a calculator! If you review your NTS there is a 30 item list of banned items for the exam. Aside from things that make you smirk like a walkman, umbrellas, weapons, calculators are definitely on the banned items list!
