I’m just curious for the alumni out there. I know only one could decide for oneself, but I’ll ask anyways, was it worth the torture?

I enjoyed the CPA exam. I studied hard and conquered my fear of failure.

NIU CPA Review Correspondence is awesome!

I passed all four sections on the first attempt

It was worth every single second I spent studying. The feeling you will get after receiving that final passing score is unbelievable.

It opens many doors for you in your future career and separates you from the pack. If you are diligent and willing to work hard, you can do it. They certainly don't just “hand these things out”. Make a rigorous study plan, stick to it, and nail it. I can assure you, it will be well worth it in the end.

100% Worth it. Money-wise, Prestige, Career Growth………………………..There are so many good things that come once you become a CPA.

    FAR 88 - BEC 86 - AUD 90 - REG 85

It's like childbirth and child rearing……once they are here you forget about all the pain of childbirth (so I am told) and all the sleepless painful nights (I experienced that part). Otherwise people would only have one kid!

So once the effort is over, it will be worth it. I know conquering REG was an overwhelmingly great feeling and I know that nailing FAR will be great. I can't wait until November to take it and December to get that grade back.

I'll be smiling like a possum for a week afterwards!

@Mikey – Yes, passing the exam is worth the effort. Thirty to fifty years of increased earning potential is worth the average time it takes to get the exam done. Plus, your path hasnt been too tough yet. Keep plugging away and knock those remaining exams out of the park (shout out to Tim Gearty).

Theres something about setting a goal for yourself and then achieving it, that makes you a “whole” person. The entire process was brutal on me and looking back I have no clue how I survived it……….but I would do it all over again!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

    Totally worth it………….

You just need time and commitment with your books for a certain amount of time. After you pass you are done and can move forward towards better, more enjoyable, things. If you leave this process for later (like I did) you will find yourself regretting for the rest of your life.

Stop thinking if it is worth it or not and keep studying!!!!

Cost benefit analysis = study materials + exams fees + study time – immediate salary increase (I got $10K) – potential increase in the future – worries about others been more prepare than you

    Done 😉

Oh my God, you guys motivated me a lot…….i have passed 3 sections and i will take FAR end of NOV. I am studying while taking care of 5 month old baby, but the last couple of days i was thinking like “why am i putting my self into this? why am i missing family(baby) and friend moments just for the sake of studying?” well, if it worth it, that is a good news. Now i feel like lets go one more time…….

I am always curious about the “it will separate you from the pack” type comments. In my experience, everyone has their license and/or is taking the exams. Are you guys working in the private sector? I am in public and it isn't even an option not to sit immediately. Now I just have to get through this process (on week2 of studying for first section).

Time to hit those 3000 MCs (for AUD, my beast). I'm glad to hear its worth it for you guys. I was at work today and for some reason the CPA exam came up. Everyone was telling me how impressed they were that I was able to pass one part let alone two. I guess it really does separate you from the pack. Its like that saying, “Always go that extra mile, there's less competition there.”
