Some coworkers and I were discussing what everyone was using their CPA licenses for, beyond the obvious tax preparer / auditor positions.

    AUD 93 (1/12); DAUGHTER (BORN 1/27); FAR 79 (2/27); REG 85 (5/26); BEC 80 (7/1)

I'll be using it to keep progressing my career in industry. I was last a director of financial reporting for a real estate company, and I was only able to achieve that through internal promotion. Finding a comparable job is difficult without a CPA (or SEC reporting experience, as my company was not public).

    BEC - 10/18/2010 - 79
    FAR - 10/28/2010 - 82
    AUD - 11/04/2010 - 73; 02/18/2011 - 86 - IT'S OVER!!!!!!
    REG - 11/21/2010 - 83

there is a job I would eventually like to apply for that requires either a) a masters in accounting or b) a CPA license. I don't have my masters, so the CPA license was much cheaper.

    AUD - 92 :: REG - 99 :: FAR - 92 :: BEC - 82

In this economy you need it to be competitive. I was a Senior Manager at a RE Development company and have had a hard time finding a job. Getting close to an offer on a position, so will see how it goes. Either way passing all 4 parts shoudl help in my job search. Earliest I can get certified is 2011 since AZ Board of Accountancy does not meet again until the end of January.

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84

    Life is funny!

I am very close to get an offer from the CPA firm that used to audit the Company where I have been the CFO for 3 years.

I would have to move back to NYC, but I managed to negotiate a not-too-bad salary for a public accounting position with no experience (a lil over 6-figure). Their clients are mainly subs of italian companies in the US, so my experience could be put at work.

Other than that, I found it impossible to find a job in Los Angeles (I've been here since February) without a CPA license/Big4 experience and/or SEC reporting and SOX compliance experience.

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95
