Hey guys, hoping you can help me out here.

So I just got out of REG Exam. And it went okay. Here’s a quick summary of how I felt it went:

All three testlets were comparable. I couldn’t really see the difficulty increase… but there were definitely some pretty difficult ones that Becker didn’t even talk about or mentioned in one or two words in their book. So I think that the questions may have gotten harder, but since they were conceptual one liners I couldn’t really tell it was harder? Idk I’m hoping thats the case, since I had a lot of conceptual question.

The sims were brutal. But after going through the book after my exam (yes I know its bad to do but I can’t resist, i’ve always done it even in college) I realized i got some of the concepts right on the sims. The sims went to such specific detail for certain questions and I just theorized my way through them, and when I got back I realized I did okay. Not good but hopefully not terrible.

But my main issue is that damn research question. I’m usually really good at research, I nailed the one for FAR and I always nail the ones for Becker. But this one research question was just impossible!!! I was so frustrated with it and spent 25+ minutes on it. Eventually I just put something down that I thought might apply to the problem. However, when I got home and googled it, I realized I had it completely wrong.

I’ve done a lot of research before posting this and am still in a grey area on how the research question is weighted. Some people argue that under the newer test, the research questions are worth a lot more and can be from 6%-8% (I’m assuming 8% for REG). Others argue that there is no way it can be worth that much.

Can you guys help me out to see if there is a more clearer defined answer?

And for the people who have taken the exams and KNOW they got the research questions wrong, did you pass or fail? I’ve been reading a lot of posts and searches that come up are people know keep saying they know the nailed the research questions haha so it’s hard to find the people who know they got it wrong and yet passed.

I guess it just makes me feel awful that I missed a research question that may be worth 8% of my grade. I also feel stupid because its literally just one question so if you mess up on it, it could be the difference of passing the CPA and not. Which really really sucks

    Any help is appreciated guys!

BTW for those people taking FAR I definitely felt the questions get a lot harder with the testlets. To me, the first and second testlet was a drastic change. The sims however were once again BRUTAL!! I mean i had no idea how to do 2 of them. i went home and of course went through my book as i usually do and I found so many things I did wrong. Including two whole sims which I messed up majorly on. And I got my score and got mid 90’s. So keep your hopes up guys!!
