Voluntary Health & Welfare Orgs?

    Would a homeless shelter be considered a voluntary health & welfare organization? I know things like the Red Cross and YMCA are…but not sure about this one.

    @memmy,

    yes, it is. Although answer could be “depends” especially if the city government runs it. But for the purpose of FAR exam, most likely it is VHWO and not SLG. Homeless shelters are similar to emergency shelters by Red Cross or food banks run by churches or by other non-profits. This is one of the entities that mandated to issue Statement of Functional Expenses while it is optional for other NFPO.
