Overhead and yield/mix variances still make me want to cry a little. However if you understand how they add up to the “simpler” variances you can reverse engineer a lot of them. I have a spreadsheet I'm happy to email you that I made up that helped me. Of course I'm not a super cool ninja like Jeff so there is a “use at your own risk” disclaimer.

@sandra6500 Im having a hard time with VOH and FOH variances. In my opinion Becker does not do a good job of explaining this section relative to everything else. Its not the computation that is hard or even memorizing the formulas. Honestly for me its finding out what was actual, standard, applied, budgeted and what not. I know what Spending, Efficiency and Volume variances are looking for, but I usually end up plugging in the wrong units or rate. Really frustrating. Im taking BEC in a week and I have a pretty good grasp on the rest of the subject but ive been hearing that variances are tested heavily and I dont want to walk into the test HOPING not to get tested. My email is asandhu21@gmail.com Spreadsheets are always helpful. Thanks : )

Ugh variances. I'm going over those right now also. Roger has some decent mnemonics for VOH and FOH. Capital Budgeting is owning me as well.

I would like that spreadsheet too, if I'm not asking for too much… noraamardi@yahoo.com

I'm having BEC on 5/31. Thanks.
