What is everyone’s strategy with answering MCQ’s the first time through? Do you reference your notes and book or do you simulate it to where it is closed notes and similar to an actual exam?

I usually keep all the documents handy……..and try not to use them once during final review, but for the 1st or 2nd time around MCQ's I have never been prepared/ready to work the MCQ's independently.

I normally work the MCQ's independently and then look at the explanations for any I starred or missed to understand why I missed them. I record which questions I missed and then I go back through those I missed before during review. I found that the 2nd time through I usually got 75-85% right the ones I had previously missed.

    BEC - 85
    REG - 89
    FAR - 86

    I am DONE!!!!!!

The first time through I use the book if need be, and that is usually often. I feel you should because then you can look up where the question is coming from and use it as a learning tool. The second time through I might cheat and look at the book here and there but prolly 10% of the time I did the first go around. The practice tests I do not use the book of course.
