I am using CPAExcel and I am not sure I am progressing like I should. This is my first attempt at taking any CPA exam and I don’t have an undergraduate in accounting or work in the industry so I am a bit behind on knowing everything from T-account, formulas etc. I am starting to think, the CPAExcel home study may not be the best way I will learn. I think I may learn more by doing actual problems and see how they work out. Is this typical or will I do better over time as I do more examples, study question, MCQ’s? Just feeling behind and not being able to grasp things like I should. I know its a long road, especially with FAR but I would like to know if this is a typical reaction when everything they go over seems new and I can’t remember it.

    Started exam prep

    August 2013 Aud
    October 2013 Reg
    November 2013 Bec

You shouldn't remember it all the first time you do the MCQ. If you did, you shouldn't be studying, but testing instead. The goal is to know the questions by the 2nd or 3rd time doing the MCQ. The first time through is a learning experience since books don't cover everything.

    ---------------
    REG - 83
    FAR - 81
    BEC - 7/1/13
    AUD - 8/31/13
