    Hi all,

I have been reading this website for a couple of months now since I needed some help with FAR and felt frustated. Well, I finally took it today and wanted to share my experience.

The mcs weren’t bad BUT the SIMS were brutal. I came out of the testing center in shock! I am freaking out..now I have to wait until March 8th to see the end results…

    FAR - 77 (Feb 2012)
    REG - 88 (Aug 2011)
    AUD - 79 (Nov 2011)
    BEC - 80 (May 2012)

Was it not comparable with Becker or Wiley Sims?? Was it too long or just not clear ?

I am taking it tomorrow and feel so confused !!

I also took FAR this morning. Felt the same way. Breezed through the MC. The 3rd set was a little more challenging. Had about 1.5 hrs left for the Sims…and totally got destroyed. They were ridiculously long. I was in shock, and when my time was running out, I just started plugging in numbers. The only one I was confident on was the research question.

Not looking forward to March 8th…

im getting freeked out- im taking it on WEd- what were the sims like that they were so brutal?

I also took FAR today 2/27/12 and agree with the majority of postings here regarding the SIMS. They were the worst part of the exam. There was only 1 research one which was the easiest one. However, the resting 6 really frustrated the heck out of me. They were extremely long and complicated; so my time ran out and so I also ended up just plugging in numbers not to leave them blank. I feel awful because I expected them to be a little more balanced and workable within the time allowed.

Let's hope that the people grading them feel a little compassion for having been so tough on us this time. Good luck to everyone.

    FAR – 2/27/12

    REG- 5/28/12

I'm starting to really worry that perhaps I did so miserably on MCQ that my task based was easy?

My MCQ went from medium-hard-medium though… I don't know I'm starting to trip real hard now.

@cpatime – The MCQ and the TBS are completely unrelated. Your performance on the MCQ has no bearing on which TBS you get. Your TBS are random.

@Minimorty – Yeah I should've known that, I'm just freaking out so hard and it's been on the rise since I took the exam, it really is one heck of a wait eh?

I would have a meltdown if I know med/hard/med wasn't enough to pass with an easy TBS selection because I know that next time I take it (if I failed that will be in July probably) the FAR gods won't be as generous as to hand me a 5/7 workable TBS.

lol, you guys dont know how good you have it. In the first three windows of 2011, we were waiting up to 3 MONTHS for our results. Seriously. You guys have to wait a couple weeks. I think you guys will be able to handle it. 😉

I took FAR first as well. Its tough because you have nothing to gauge your score against. Sounds like you did pretty well though if you had 5/7 manageable sims. Good luck!

I took FAR on 1/26/2012 and my Sims were BRUTAL! The research tab was the easiest one- found the codification in less than 2 minutes- the rest was a nightmare. I wasn't even sure as to what I was being asked on one of them and I know I forgot to add an amount in another (checked when I got home) and the others were just plain awful…I got my score (email) on Tuesday but didn't open it until Thursday- I had a job interview on Wednesday and didn't want to be depressed from yet another failing grade- I was shocked to see I got an 80! I'm still in shock! I have no idea as to the grading process but I know I didn't do well on the sims- however my mc questions I never noticed a difference other than longer calculations in the third testlet.

From my experience there is hope for everyone!

I'm finally done!!! I'm still glowing and it's not from radiation exposure!

I kept hearing everyone else say how bad the Sims were and maybe I just got lucky yesterday, but the sims I had were all extremely manageable if you had a good grasp on the major areas of the FAR material.

There were a few MCQ's that I spent way too much time on trying to get them right and I only left myself an hour for the Sims. I got through them with less then a minute left on thest. Every sim though was very straight forward and based on stuff that should have been learned during regular study time.

I used Yaeger lectures and the Wiley test bank to help me prepare. After the lectures and taking notes I just ran through all the MCQ's for each chapter online to help reinforce my understanding and then I took several simulated tests using the test bank leading up to the exam.

The biggest key in my mind to passing FAR is knowing the journal entries FOR EVERYTHING. Yaeger even states this in part of their lecture. About 80% of my Sims were based on knowing what to debit and what to credit and for how much. A vast majority of the treasury stock and equity questions can easily be answered if you know what accounts to hit.

Totally in the same boat- I took the FAR last week and the SIMS were brutal. I flew by the MCQ's totally confident that I was going to pass, and then I saw the SIMS and almost passed out. Wiley does not prepare you for those SIMS- they were ridiculously long! ( I had 1 hour and 15 minutes, which I had originally thought was enough time) I was baiscally doing what everyone else was doing- filling in stuff, like anything. I was so sad.. I hope I passed.

    FAR 61, 82! ( 11/9/12)
    AUD 67, (4/19/13) WAITING!!

Now the waiting begins… Until March 8th!

@hilly: it is hard to suggest something because all exams are different but in my opinion just try to skim through everything and get a grasp if you can of everything. Most important suggestion: do not waste 2-5 minutes in questions you are not sure of. Just flag them and come back to them. Try to leave at least 1:30 for the SIMS if not more….

    Good Luck tomorrow.

    Tell us how it went…
